Call it a salary cap or whatever you'd like, it's semantics at this point - and I can't blame the owners at all. Dr. Fauci is screaming about not playing in the later fall when they'd have a chance to recoup some of their losses with the expanded playoffs.

I've been wanting the DH, long overdue. Hope they agree on something, least it seems they're talking more extensively. Probably need to hammer out a deal by the end of the month at least or early next week more likely.

There was just a report about five Phillies players and three staffers at their training facility in Clearwater coming down with COVID-19. Even if the owners and players can figure out the financial side, the problem looming over everything is that virus cases are spiking hard in Florida and Arizona, and I don't know how you can safely conduct spring training camps in those states right now.

I don’t see how they can have a baseball season when the virus spreads through bats.

Blue Jays have now done the same and shut their spring training complex down. Per reports, one of their players, who is on the 40 man roster, has shown symptoms of COVID-19, however, has not tested positive yet. He has spent time with a Phillies player, whose spring training complex is 6 miles away

Add the Giants to the list of teams closing their Spring Training facilities.

That story is a bit misleading. The title says they’re thinking about instituting ties, but then the article only mentions them possibly adopting the minor league rule about starting every extra inning with a runner on second and possibly allowing players to re-enter the game in extra innings if they have been substituted out previously.

The game I loved is now dead. Ties, DH in NL, and still no one can answer one question. Why???

The MLBPA is voting this weekend on the owners 60 game proposal...expectation is that if they vote against the proposal, Manfred would institute his own schedule (~50 games) and the players would file a grievance. Manfred could also say screw it, and cancel the season all together. Either way, seems like this is finally coming to a resolution.

Just cancel the season at this point. No reason to risk a Covid outbreak for a fraction of a season.

I am canceling my MLBEI sub and leaving the Braves behind. I can't watch this game. Dictator Manfred at it again.

I think the Owners screwed this up initially, but it’s sorta ridiculous the players didn’t jump at this 60 game offer immediately.

Saw a bit ago on a Slack site Manfred may be wavering on Universal DH. It seems there are more pitchers that like to bat than he thinks.

Apparently he is willing to waive expanded playoffs and the universal DH in 21
