Trade deadline is 8/31. Highly doubt there’s an all star game.

Also, new weird wrinkle in the extra inning rule. Not that it would probably ever happen, but a pitcher could now lose a perfect game. 0-0 after 9, starter stays in for the 10th going for the perfect game. Runner begins on 2nd, advances to third via stolen base or sac fly and then scores on sac fly. Pitcher would technically be perfect, but would also lose. Never allowed a base runner so doesn’t cross the threshold to no hitter rather than perfect game.

It would have to be after thirty games lol.

IF for some odd reason the Braves get off to a bad start, they could definitely have some nice trade peices.

If the runner from second scores is it an ER for the pitcher starting the inning?

Nope, because the runner is deemed to have arrived on second via and error, but there is no actual error charged to the fielding team. Apparently this happened in an A level game a few years ago.

Walker to 45 day DL per MLBTR

The Braves announced Friday that they’ve placed right-hander Jeremy Walker on the newly created 45-day injured list due to a right shoulder impingement.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;......

And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

They might as well put the runner on third with one out, because the first batter up will bunt 99% of the time.

So a bunt equals an automatic base advancement?

The visiting team won’t do that either depending on part of order. Watching minor league games you saw the top of the inning play out more traditional unless the bottom half of the lineup was hitting. Visiting teams know they need more than one run to win most likely.

Not sure it matters all that much. Couldn't find any data for the past few years but from 2010-2015 the chance at least 1 run would score from 2nd with no outs is 0.614. With 3rd and one out is 0.675. So a slight increase on a successful bunt. But the chances goes way down on failed bunts. Just swing away.

Do we need one? All-Star games have become silly exercises anyway and an excuse for a week off.

With the new extra-inning rule, if there was ever a good argument for having Billy Hamilton (or a similar speedster) as your 25th guy, this is it.

Another argument for adding Pache to the roster.

But you don’t get to pick who the runner on second is. It’s the player that made the final out of the prior inning. So if Tyler Flowers was the last out, he’s on second.

And to clvclv, to call up Pache and have his clock start to act as a glorified pinch runner is a horrible, horrible waste for the Braves. If you’re going to waste a season of his clock on this silly season, you’d want him getting serious playing time, and we already have a glut of outfielders. Only way he sees time on the active roster is there are massive injury concerns and I think he’s still below people like Ortega and O’Brien on the pecking order.

It doesn’t mean it’s automatic, but many will bunt to advance the runner. I just don’t like it. Maybe I’m in the minority, just doesn’t do anything for the game that’s positive.

I have decided to hang in to see the outcome of the CBA. Based on some of the things I have read and seen it looks like the union is setting up for a bloody fight. I have a feeling some of Manfred's rule changes might be casualties the way some are talking. Maybe even Manfred's job is on the line.

But what is the rule, can you immediately pinch run for that player on 2nd? I haven't seen clarification on that.
