Why on Earth did this young man last to round 24?

Well, he only played 1 year at Dallas Baptist. He hit .325 with 18 taters and walked as much as he struck out.

Combined stat line for Danville and Rome last year:

    231 AB
    17 jacks
    26 BB
    50 K
    .329 average
    .351 BABIP
    .299 ISO

Paul Goldschmidt- same age (21) in rookie ball.

    287 AB
    18 homers
    36 BB
    74 K
    .334 average
    .390 BABIP
    .304 ISO

Have the Braves stumbled on JUMBO Goldschmidt?

This is fairly unlikely but hey, let's hope so. I do like Bryce Ball though, lots of potential.

Surprised you didn't go with the Andres Galarraga comparison, given your whole "big cat" fixation.

Doubtful seeing as Goldy could play defense. Also the only being able to DH thing probably explains why he was drafted so low

Do we really have enough information to suggest that Ball is a bad defender at 1B? Most of what I recall reading suggests he just can't play anywhere else, not that he'll have to be an exclusive DH.
