Just really shows the Braves don’t want to waste a year of Pache’s clock on this silly season. Makes more sense to bring in Puig, keep Pache in the Gwinnett camp, and then have him be brought up after the Super 2 deadline in 2021.

I'd take Puig over Duval starting/playing alot any day of the week. Probably means AA doesnt wanna touch Waters or Pache clocks this season.

Yes. Duvall never needs to face righty. Hopefully this pushes the team into the Duvall/Ender platoon they tried when Duvall first came over.

Duval vs LHP, Ender vs RHP, and Ozuna/Puig/Acuna play everyday would make the most sense. Move Ozuna to full-time DH for the most part minus a spot start here and there. If Freeman is ok, go with:

Acuna/Ozzie/FF/Ozuna/Puig/TDA/Swanson/Ender/Riley or Camargo. Only concern is with Nick out, lack of a LH to balance out the lineup. Lineup is REALLY RH heavy but we face alot of righties this year so thats ok.

The problem would have been believing that there was a legitimate chance that Snitker would have executed it at all (much less correctly).
Did we just become best friends?

At the end of the day, Puig has a reverese platoon split for his career. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to limit his exposure a bit to LHP in favor of getting Duvall some PAs, but Puig likely plays everyday.

With Markakis gone, this was a decent pick up, and likely means Ozuna is going to DH the vast majority of the time. This also probably means Riley's PAs are going to be limited.

Puig has a career platoon advantage vs RHP, so he balances it out a bit.

Always fun to add a reverse splits player to the roster.

Have to expect there were long conversations about how playing time is bound to be split up and that Puig is fine mentally with being a part-time player. Riley or Duvall obviously make more sense in LF against lefties, and it's awfully hard to see Ozuna sitting in favor of Yasiel DH ABs considering the money he'll be making.

Shewmake over Culberson would seem to make sense once they've secured the extra year of control - LH bat, can handle SS better defensively. Not sure how you find any OF ABs for Charlie now.

Supposedly leaning towards carrying 17 Pitchers at first. If they only carry 40-Man guys for the first two weeks (and Freddie, Smith, and Touki are back), maybe we could be looking at...

Acuna, Albies, Freeman, Ozuna, Camargo, Puig, d'Arnaud, Dansby, Ender

    Flowers, Duvall, Riley, Hechevarria

    Soroka, Fried, Folty, Hamels/Tomlin/Touki, Wright/Newk/Wilson

Melancon, Smith, Martin, Greene, Minter, Jackson, Dayton, O'Day
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I really don’t think Freddie will be back by the start of the season. We’re 10 days out from opening day. He needs to be symptom free for 72 hours, then take 2 tests 24 hours apart and be negative in both. Apparently he’s still having symptoms. None of our 4 players have tested negative yet, even the 2 that were asymptomatic. So I’m guessing we go into the season with Riley as our starting 1B and Melancon closing.

Wish we'd sign Scooter Gennett too for the taxi squad.

This is a no brainer. A 60 game season is not the time to waste Pache’s clock and Puig has playoff experience. Atlanta’s lineup will NOT be fun for a pitcher navigate.

Riley is the first guy I thought of when I thought about who would lose at bats.

Looking at the roster I’d argue it makes more sense to use Culberson and keep Riley off the roster. I mean why burn the service time to maybe be the weak side of a platoon. Especially on an essentially fake season.
