So yes, Donaldson was better than both of them put together. He was better than all 3 put together.
WAR is junk. Donaldson is elite, though.

Donaldson and Markakis hit a combined .269.

Ozuna and Puig hit a combined .255 as Ozuna had by far the lowest BABIP of his career.
Donaldson had a park adjusted run above average of 27.8

Puig and Ozuna combined for 6.9

Donaldson was a tremendous offensive force in 2019.

Then why were you citing WRC+ earlier in this thread when it's basis factors into WAR?

WAR defense greatly inflates and deflates certain players

It happens. I got educated back when I thought Russ Ortiz was an elite pitcher for the Braves.

Ok. But the offensive component clearly shows Donaldson pimp smacking both Ozuna and Puig combined. Try again.

to be fair, it wasn't as easily accessible then.
people don't have any excuse today really.

Neither Ozuna or Puig walk all that much. Getting on base is important.

But the only reason you want to get on base is to score runs.

Puig scored 15 more runs than Little Nick last year. Ozuna? 19.

Puig and Ozuna make **** happen. Little Nick hits singles and grounds out.

Right, because scoring runs is 100% on the individual and not due to factors around him.

Anyway, the debate isn’t Markakis vs Ozuna and Puig. It’s about just how much better Donaldson was than the lot of them.

And if you really want to be dumb and use runs scored, Markakis only played in 115 games last year, compared to 149 for Puig and 130 for Ozuna. So, saying they only scored 15 more runs than Nick is actually detrimental to your argument.

But, in reality, it just proves how runs scored is as meaningless as a stat as RBI.

Runs are the most important stat in baseball, and a HR is the best possible outcome of an AB.

Singles and BB are 4th on that list.

What are you even arguing here? That a singles hitter is better than a HR hitter? This is basic arithmetic.

Obviously WRT runs, there is some reliance on who's batting behind you, but it's not as pronounced enough at the big league level to explain a 15-20 run difference.

Ozuna and Puig scored more runs because they created more action with HR and steals.
