You can see a great pitcher in there somewhere. But he could be like Newk and never figure out how to throw a stupid fastball

    Wright with 2 IP, 42 pitches, 22 strikes, 3 BB, 2 hits, 1 K

He probably won't see the end of the 4th at this rate. Quickly pitching his way out of a rotation spot??
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;......

And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

First of all, I hope he’s alright. That’s kind of scary. He must not be in the team hotel.

Secondly, if he is, then lol Mets.

That PA vs Nimmo shows exactly why Wright will continue to get unlimited chances to stick in the rotation, all the while hoping he figures out how to execute his pitches more effectively.

Fastballs at 95-96 down, but over the heart of the plate. They are just nasty enough he didn’t get hurt.

Slider with good bite at 83 in, but not down and in enough to put the hitter away.

Change ups that appear plus to the eye test, but he didn’t execute the first 2 on the outer edge to induce a swing. Then he executes the 3rd change on the outer edge to get the K.

The parts are there, he’s just missing that fine tuning in the execution to be truly effective. If/when he figures that out he will be a nice 2-3 with potential for more depending on how the control progresses.

He is basically right handed Newk. Good velo but he either throws it over the middle of the plate or it’s a foot outside.

If I were the Mets I wouldn’t swing at anything but that mid 90s heat down Broadway.

Look at that frisbee slider to Alonzo. It has the type of movement you typically see from a side armer.

I just took a runny dump that wasn’t that nasty.

I have to review his stuff. That thing 89 breaking in to Conforto looks like a cutter/slider, and is a different pitch than the 83 breaker we saw earlier.

Damn Wright's getting the outs when needed. A 1-2-3 would be cool tho.

The Mets inability to hit with runners in scoring position is killing them. Hopefully, they can wait a couple more days until they figure it out.
