I don’t get this at all. If Ender isn’t gonna play vs RHP why don’t we just DFA him and bring up Pache. Also where is Camargo? He’d be a better option at 3rd or 2nd than what’s out there.

I agree. Not like we would burn much of his team control.Looks to me this season will be perfect to find out what you have for the future since Soroka’s injury so may as well bring up Pache and let the youngsters learn.

Ender should be playing vs RHP. Unless there’s something going on we don’t know about like a nagging injury, there is simply no logical explanation for Snit suddenly forgetting how to manage a roster after doing so well the first 2 weeks.

It’s almost like the presence of Markakis makes Snit’s brain physically incapable of making tactical decisions in the modern game.

Of the 292 players with 300+ MLB PAs in 2019-2020, Riley ranks #290 at making contact when swinging at pitches in the zone...73.7%.

The 2 players worse than him are:

Joey Gallo - quite possibly the most damaging contact in the game, and very selective to the point he has a 15% BB rate that gives him a good overall OBP.
Jason Castro - a catcher whose value is mostly tied to playing a premium defensive position and excellent framing.

Both of those guys swing and miss a lot, but compensate with a fairly low ~25% swing rate at pitches out of the zone.

Riley swings at ~40% of pitches out of the zone (though he has improved to ~30% in his small 2020 sample size), also nearly worst in MLB. Additionally, Riley doesn't do anywhere near as much damage as Gallo when he does make contact, and doesn't play a premium defensive position like Castro. So far, Riley chases bad pitches very often, can't make contact on many strikes, doesn't play a premium position, and does good-not-great damage on the contact he does make.

A close comp to him very recently is Michael Chavis of the Red Sox, who sports a 75% contact rate on pitches in the zone, and swings at ~35% of pitches out of the zone. He projects as something like a .240/.300/.450 hitter. I'm guessing he won't be holding a job in Boston for long with his 33% K rate...Riley's is 36% by the way.

The Braves probably need more than that out of 3B.

I want to give Riley another 100-200 PAs but his ABs just aren't great.

I cant argue with anything that anyone has posted re: Riley. However, given all the turmoil this season and pretty much of irrelevant season, wouldnt it be a waste of potential to overlook and forget his quick start, his age, his body type, his position and last but probably most obvious, lack of trade potential on one side and cost on the other side?

Might be a loong night for the Braves.

Go down 1-2-3 on 10 pitches from Arrieta
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;......

And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Wright looks nasty. Hope this development continues.

Would be amazing if after soroka goes down that our young pitching finally develops as we'd hope

Kyle's stuff is too good to get blitzed like he gets. Need to give him time.
