my joke about that increasing average levels of thangs like IQ and income in both red and blue states may not be entirely a joke after all

how else to account for the WIDENING real per capita GDP gap between NY and California on the one hand and Florida on the other

because I don't think looking at the overall economic output of the banking sector, Wall Street, and big tech is proportionately reflective of the contributions of each citizen, and therefor is a useless metric

Move wall street to Wyoming and I'd wager it'd have the highest metric you're referring to

That it and the banking sector were established in NY centuries ago isn't all that interesting to me about the states' current situations

ditto for ongoing recent widening of health metrics such as life-expectancy and crime metrics such as per capita homicides

i'm not saying blue states are perfect...far from it...but they might be doing a few thangs right

After watching the lies about this economy I'm not sure I believe what's being reported in the blue states.

Wyoming is blessed in its own way. Great natural beauty and a wealth of minerals that support a large profitable extractive industry.

Sadly it also regularly tops the charts in the suicide rate.

Just need a couple of small tweaks in leadership and people are going to FLOCK to Cali/NY again.

    It's not hard to fix.

People flee for cheap real estate mostly.

With Florida prices escalating quickly I think the next few years will look differently.

The problem with Cal and Ny is that while they're wealthy states most of the money is in the hands of the few. Too hard to make a living if you're Joe Shmoe with the cost of living the way it is.

Florida's a nice place for people looking for a slower environment. Although for me personally the humidity is a deal breaker.

They both have world beating industries that squeeze others out. But they also have overly restrictive permitting processes that have created a housing shortage. They could fix that but nimbyism is strong in both places. People who have it made aren't inclined to make room for others.
