AA going 3 years for Will Smith, and not going 3 or more years for a big bopper would feel very stupid. Like, if not now, when? The Albies/Acuna contracts are a damn goldmine, at some point he's gotta make a risky move. Not every player is gonna accept a 1 yr deal.

Lol apparently the Jays and Padres are battling it out this offseason. Padres, it’s your turn.

That’s my main complaint with going shorter deals.
Acuna and Ozzie’s contracts are beyond godsends.
You literally saved in excess of 100 million easy.
No reason not to take a chance when you’ve saved so much.
I’m not saying give Ozuna a long term deal or sign just anyone to do it, I’m saying you have to look at a guy like Arenado or another impact trade bat and atleast consider it.
If the Braves have one bad long term contract they still are ahead with the deals the kids took.
I still don’t think most casual fans realize how much the Braves saved on those deals lol

It would be inconsistent logic to give a BP arm like Will Smith 3 years and then refuse to give a player like Ozuna or Turner 3 years when there are no longer any 1 year options remaining. As long as there are 1 year options remaining, it makes no sense to pony up 3 years for anyone.

So keep trying to get an impact bat on a 1 year deal, then pony up if needed. Failing to add an impact bat in not an option, and I agree with folks who say AA can't waste these years of contention because he refused to give such a bat an extra year.
What continues to puzzle is that he was supposedly in on Liam Hendriks. I get that it would be nice to have a consistent guy to close things down and also enhance bullpen flexibility, but that seems a bit on the ornamental side of the equation while the offense looks to need some boosting.

i don’t think you go and welcome a burdensome long-term deal just because you have two absolute bargains. the Braves need to keep payroll flexibility. again, it hasn’t cost them anything so far.

    I’m not welcoming one.
I simply was trying to express they should have a great amount of financial flexibility due to those contracts.
That was one of the main points AA kept repeating.
I don’t believe we’ve saw the savings being used unless that was why he signed Smith

Wouldn't have given La Stella a 3 year deal if he'd have offered to perform oral favors on not just AA but everybody else in the front office.

He's coming off of a Camargo-like career year and couldn't play SS if Simmons rubbed his glove - at least Adrianza can handle SS.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Didi will hit 20-25 bombs in that ballpark - when was the last time Andrelton did that?

Nice to see that Ramos established the market for what's left of the backup Catchers at $2 million - probably wouldn't be the worst $2 million AA has ever spent to bring Flowers back if he has ANY questions about whether A-Jax or Contreras is ready.

He’s in his office not giving 3 year deals to utility players. Good for him.

yup. I thought the same thing when I saw it was three years. I figured Tommy would have gotten two years, at best.
