No. Brantley and Joc were great fits for this team and both are gone.

It's more that all fallback options are dwindling. The Braves are guaranteed to sign any of the guys they want and Joc would have been a perfect platoon option. He likely wanted to start thus this move, though.

Guess Jocs move knocks the hell out of clv's platoon plan. You know, the one where Duvall comes home.

Rosenthal mentioned in his article that we had spoken with the Rockies about Arenado, but talks went no where....saying that in past tense.

Who knows WTH AA is doing

JBJ is running out of options. Would he play a corner? Would he hit enough to play LF?

It would be a hell of a defensive OF.

    He'd probably take a 1 year deal.

If Pache is expected to be our opening day CFer, I would probably go ahead with Ozuna, even if it means he plays LF. Acuna and Pache can cover a TON of ground, leaving Ozuna not much territory to have to cover.

IF AA pulled of an Arenado trade (highly doubt) Inciarte would almost certainly be in the deal. I'd circle back to Duvall at that point. Dream if you will, AA gets both Arenado and Ozuna....

    Acuna RF
    Freeman 1B
    Arenado 3B
    Ozuna LF
    TDA C
    Albies 2B
    Swanson SS
    Pache CF

I'd have been fine with 1/7 as a platoon guy. But there's no way we should've let him face lefties.

Heyman: Braves have checked in on Arenado, too. Probably a long shot. Rockies want big haul back but don’t want to eat much $ (that part makes some sense as he may opt out after 2021 anyway). #STLCards need may be greater than Braves.

I guess that's fair value. But if you look at Pederson's stats form last year, he was pretty terrible, and had negative value on defense. I guess he likely would have bounced back, but did we really want to promise him to not platoon him? Doesn't seem likely.

Last year after we sign Ozuna i remember AA talking about the posibility of sign Donaldson and Ozuna. I now is a different year with probably less money. Hopefully we add Ozuna and another big bat.

And each of those bats are having less and less suitors remaining. Prices could be coming down a bit.

Can't win the World Series in January - even if it is the new December.

This team - even as it stands today - is good enough that it will still be in the mix when the trade deadline gets here, No bad contracts? Absolutely. Can't take advantage of someone stupid enough to try to win it all in January if you sign a couple of bad contracts now yourself.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
