Passan says more than 30 million.

I was saying all along turner wasn’t an option. Behind the scenes all reports were la or bust

I threw out choo a couple of times.

I think he could be a solid bench bat and dh hedge. He is a good obp lh as I recall.

I heard an interview from 5 days ago with 680 the fan with aa in YouTube. Seemed like aa was hinting there were some complex plan bc it’s possible mlb drops dh and expanded playoffs on them right before the season.

Agree. Much rather have ozuna and his deal.

Looking back on it, ozuna and Morton have to be two of the top couple of moves of the off-season based on value.

I just worry we are short a guy. Pache, Riley Swanson isn’t scaring anyone. Feel like a lot is riding on Riley being at least league avg for us to challenge Mets, dodgers and Padres. I know we were one win away last year but we didn’t win. Need to step forward.

This is their first time in the luxury tax, most of their team is pretty much homegrown.

He's another path the off-season might have taken -- I wonder if I'd rather have Hill for $2.5 or Smyly for $11.
Good point on the Hill/Smyly comparison. Neither has been the picture of health during their careers, but the plus with Hill is that he qualifies for Medicare.

Turner will earn 17m per year for 2 years with a 14m option for year 3. An 8m signing bonus is included.

Dodgers now stand at the 62.5% tax threshold. They need to dump about 5m in payroll to get under the 62.% to the lower level.

The idea with Smyly (and Morton) is they can be dominant TOR beasts in short stints, namely in the playoffs. The Braves will pay attention to their workloads specifically to have them available to make a difference when it matters. Hint: nobody expects them to pitch 150 innings.

We’ve seen the Dodgers do something similar with Kerahaw...they patch things together throughout the regular season and then unleash guys at full strength in the postseason. I think Morton is exactly that type of guy, but I’m not convinced with Smyly. Still not a fan of the Smyly deal, but 2-3 dominant outings next October will quickly make me change my tune.

So if AA thinks the DH could drop right before the season then what does he do next? Bc if the DH is brought in then we no doubt need another big bat. I think we do at 3b as it currently stands. A Swanson, Pache, Riley, and the pitchers spot is a rough bottom of the order.

Holy Christmas. And he's 36? They must just have oceans of money rolling up on the shore.

Am I the only one who thinks he looks goofy with the big red beard and the advanced baldness working simultaneously? That is one ugly dude.

I still wouldn't put the Mets in a class above the Braves. As far as project systems go. It's Dodgers/Padres...Mets/Braves...everyone else in the NL

    Right now, i'd put it Dodgers/gap/Padres/small gap/Braves/Mets.

Mets are improved but missing on Bauer really hurt them.
