I think they bring the DH back. No reason for them not too.

Certainly not sexy by any stretch of the imagination, but plugs the holes we had in 2020. Would feel like such a Dodgers thing to do - improve at the margins and trust that your core (Freeman/Acuna/Albies/Fried/Soroka/Anderson) can get it done when they don't have to overcome weaknesses elsewhere on the roster.

Hard to keep from wondering if having a full rotation and our pen would have gotten this year's team past L. A. if you'd have had legitimate enough threats in the lineup to sit Duvall and Riley against lefties without having to play Ender or Camargo..
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

One team for #stlcards fans to watch when the quiet period ends tomorrow: Atlanta.

In addition to Adam Wainwright, the #Braves have been quietly exploring the feasibility of adding Yadier Molina in free agency...

I’d rather have Flowers than Molina.

Unless Molina comes for almost free I don’t see the point in using resources on him when Contreras is so close to being ready.

In order of importance, the holes on the roster go:

    1. RHH to replace Ozuna
    2. SP to fill rotation
    3. LHH to replace Markakis
    4. C to replace Flowers
    5. BP to replace MM/Greene
    6. SS for bench
    7. 3B to upgrade Riley

Now folks could argue any order of 4-7, but the top 3 are pretty clearly the biggest needs.

Not to mention I just absolutely hate Molina. There are very few players in MLB that just disgust me to my core, but Yadier is one of them.

Could Alex Jackson fill #4 and allow money elsewhere?

Yeah Molina makes no sense for us and the Cards would be stupid to let him walk cheap when he’s been there his whole career.

I can vaguely see Molina AND Jackson if AA fails to get the RHH to replace Ozuna. TDA could possibly have to DH more than desired at this time.

If Ozunas bat is replaced by Molina by DHing TDA then AA had a pretty bad off season.

My dislike of Molina aside, this is still very true.

How many RHH are out there who can hopefully compare to the numbers Ozuna put up this year? Surely you arent expecting Duvall to DH.

Nobody is going to come close to replace Ozuna's numbers this year. Not even Ozuna himself.

They signed Ozuna to be a 110-120 WRC+ hitter behind Freeman. Now, they should aim as high as they can but an everyday hitter in that range would be a reasonable replacement.

So then where does this RHH who replaces Ozuna fit in the lineup. I think it should be clear that the situation with Acuna, Pache and Ender needs help but are you saying the RHH is going to DH and if so and you settle for less than Ozuna what precudes TDA from DHing occasionally like this year?

Hard pass on Waino and Molina unless both signed for dirt cheap.

I'd swap 5 and 4, BP is a bigger concern than catcher. We could make due with Contreras/TDA. Need one of Greene/MM back imo.

The relief pitchers market seems like it will be flooded this offseason. Should be able to get a few decent bargain pieces.

MM and Greene are 2 big pieces of the bullpen and it weakens us significantly. We have to bring back one of them and bring in another arm or 2. We saw in the postseason just how important the bullpen. The bench has to be a big area of need too. I’d put 4 at the bottom with Contreras in the fold.

Even then, i wouldnt use what little money we have on a backup C when we have a capable one in Contreras. But need to figure out SP, LHH to replace Neck, and RHP/Ozuna before doing anything else.
