Our system is intentionally convoluted to allow the system to “save” the people from their own choices.
 
Our system is convoluted. The Iowa caucuses are a quaint tradition. It is a system set up to operate on very low turnout. Which will be further depressed by harsh weather this year. Four years ago the Democrats had a fiasco in Iowa when their computers crashed.

Having said that, it has been convoluted for a long time, with each state doing things its own way. For better or worse that's how federalism works.

And the fact that it is convoluted doesn't mean it doesn't work and yield a clear result except in very rare exceptions. 2020 was not one of those rare exceptions. 2020 was a brazen multi-pronged effort by the losing candidate to do an extraconstitutional and illegal end run around a fair and square election that went against him. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Hopefully the full weight of the law will be brought to bear on that candidate and his accomplices.

They filed a bunch of lawsuits and had their opportunities to have their claims adjudicated. That was their legal right. Unfortunately they had nothing and lost all their cases. So they turned to illegal and extraconstitutional means. For which they will be duly punished. As they should be.
