Is it safe to say then that Vivek thinks Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito shouldn’t be on SCOTUS because of who their wives support politically?
Also, it’s kind of hilarious that people are even bringing up that the prosecutor would be politically motivated. Welcome to ****ing America, guys. This is already what every prosecutor does. It just usually happens to a bunch of poor people so they can appear “tough on crime.”

I disagree with this. I think it’s a bit much to pursue these charges given the Wild West nature of campaign finance, but I think it was a reasonable verdict.

Having family supporting a political party and having family with a monetary interest in a case are vastly different scenarios.
Also, one is a SCOTUS the other is a local judge. I would think even the staunchest Dem would agree that a SCOTUS Judge is far more respectable and able be unbiased.
1) A judge in New York City is not just your average “local” judge.
2) I don’t trust any of the above, and absolutely do not equate having the political prowess necessary to become a Supreme Court Justice with being fair or unbiased. More talented, certainly. But that’s like saying I should trust MTG or you should trust AOC more than a city council member, just because they’re in big politics. I do agree that you are more likely to find bad judges at this level, because so many spots have to be full, and you’ll have judges that are less talented than Alito or Thomas or any of the liberal justices I’m sure you disagree with. But it doesn’t mean an individual judge is less respectable or maliciously motivated than they are.
3) Alito and Thomas *are* biased, much in the same way that Kagan and Sotomayor are biased. They have a judicial philosophy and set of values that guide their decisions.
4) Judge Merchan’s daughter works for a campaign firm. She doesn’t get a dollar for each Trump charge.

Why? I support the laws and democracy. If he wins, he wins. Unlike Republics and Orange Jesus, I won't be crying foul. If the intelligence of American voters has fallen that far (not so far, actually) then the country deserves what it gets. It does appear the country has screwed itself in the name of freedom and gratifying every base impulse. Who needs education or real news! Americans have a very real self-destructive tendency and it will be a shame to watch it play out on such a grand scale.
If he's sentenced to prison time he should have to serve it like everybody else, at least until he becomes POTUS anoints himself untouchable. If that happens he really could transform the country to his own liking and go down in history as one of the most powerful leaders ever, until he chokes on a chicken nugget and leaves the country to clean up his mess, which should be significant.
But whatever happens to the country because of him should not be blamed on him. The responsibility will lie with the idiot voters who thought supporting and voting for a con man criminal/fool would be a good idea.
