I really don't think anyone could have done worse than Biden.

They still have their convention. They still have their VP pick. And they have Soviet style propaganda working overdrive

In Bidens deterioated state the bottom was definitely falling out and even I didn't think he'd be on his dead bed at this point in time.

Ignoring that aspect (which you will end up being right about) the floor that Biden had pre-debate will be higher than the support Kamala gets outside of the coasts.

If you read any public finance textbook the idea of taxing the bad and subsidizing the good is one of the main precepts. But surely someone as well informed as Vance must know that the tax code actually does that with respect to children, via things like the child tax credit. Indeed, I would be happy to join forces with him and anyone else to advocate for reinstating the enhanced refundable tax credit that was allowed to lapse at the end of 2022. It had a major effect in reducing child poverty rates in 2021 and 2022. Something like that should be able to garner bipartisan support.

I think Vance's point is that the marginal rates should be lower as well while still keeping credits.
