Lopez And Bummer Resigned

Looks like zero impact on the tax number, but frees up money for 2025.

Good point. My initial worry seeing this was that AA was going to try to reset the luxury tax this year, but this seems to be an indication that the Braves are going to spend this off-season.

I dont think it'll be Fried, but AA has his eye on someone to be clearing up money.

This what I saw to. He’s saving cash for somebody. Soto would no doubt be amazing but our odds are pretty low. I’d guess the target is Adames.

Montgomery feels like a guy that is attractive because of having 0 acquisition cost besides his salary. If there are free agents that we like similar or better, I don't see any reason to prioritize him unless the options come off the table.

I’m fine with not getting Montgomery. I have no idea on why he really crapped the bed last year.

It just seems like a move AA would make

It still feels to me like they are trying to get under the luxury tax. I just dont buy the idea of AA signing Adames or any big FA to a long term market value contract. So I really wonder where this money is going to be spent. I expect the usual. High value short term contracts on risky players with upside and trades for players that want to sign long term extensions with us. Shane Bieber and Garrett Crochet being two examples of those kinds of players.

AA has already said payroll is going up. So he has his sights set on someone.
