Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

When discussing a one-state or two-state solution, I did not have my money on a two-state solution, but one of those states is actually the United States.

The 53rd state solution (assuming we get Greenland and Canada across the goal line first)

I'd imagine that this agreement would have these types of stipulations in place.

It's virtually impossible to have those stipulations. And in all likelihood, the conditions of these prisons would fail to meet basic standards and would swiftly be deemed as violations to their rights.

Hmm - Looks like yet again Trump and team understand US laws more than random message board poster.

Big men with big ideas - This isn't your daddy's government any longer.

Get violent POS out of this country.

Well if a rando on twitter posts it, I guess it's absolutely true!

Trying to send American citizens to an El Savador prison would get tied up in so much legal proceeding that we would lose far more money than whatever theoretical amount saved.

Now, illegal immigrants are a different story. They aren't protected by the same rights.

I would hope they audit/inspect every thing our tax dollars go to. Do you think there's no waste in the NOAA?

I’m sure there is some. I don’t believe a constitutionally dubious group led by Elon Musk should be locking employees out to research that potential waste.

That's probably what we'll do. Send the illegals there but not the American citizens.

Then you’re just doing deportations with a little pizazz. How does paying El Salvador to house illegal immigrants we’re expelling save us money?

At least this new forever war will have some fresh blood. Really funny that they’re touting numbers that don’t even clear the bar of the Obama Admin though.

Yeah the Obama regime was the beginning of the end of believing the military was a noble pursuit. Odd how that’s when DEI really started infecting the nation.

The outrage form many in DC is telling.

Untold layers of skimming off the top at the expense of American taxpayers.

Or many in DC might just like humanitarian aid and not like Trump unilaterally shutting down an agency he doesn’t seem to legally be able to.

I would say that it cost to savings is mostly a wash. More up front cost, but far less likely the violent criminals are able to re-enter. Which is harder to value, but valuable nonetheless.

Obviously, you want some sort of checks and balances in place to ensure these criminals are remaining locked up and this money isn't just way to funnel money to cartels or other parties. But

Your guy had the military for 50% of the post-Obama years.

Yeah - the good people in DC.

I’m 100% with you that Washington is full of self-serving grifters. But not every single reaction to an event is evidence of that corruption. USAID does actually help people in extreme need, even if there’s waste around it.
