Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

I wonder if a reliever will come up and impress us this year. I am excited to watch Baldwin.. he fits that around 3rd round pick mold that Strider/Harris/Schwelly came from.. and wasn't hyped right away but jumped up to #5 prospect by end of last year.

Somebody said it a few days ago (Carp I think) but I wish they'd start AJSS in the bullpen like they did Fried and let him get some big league experience and then put him in the rotation. He'd help the bullpen out a lot same goes for Waldrep.

Honestly, this is the way to go. I'm on the give Hackenburg more time. Other seasoned pitchers of the AA A variety are available.

You already know that if Hackenburg comes out and is doing really well he's gonna get promoted quick, especially if there's an injury

Yeah. I know that's reality. But I was not on the fast track train for AJSS and it showed, talent or not. I think the rush or aggressive approach is warranted after a good marinate period. Hack needs at least a half year of success at AAA. Just my 2 cents. I'm sure he's going to see the majors...but not early

We have enough back end starters to where hopefully they don't have to rush him.

Canario is a guy I'd love to see the Braves take a shot on. He's no world-beater, but he's more talented than a few of the positional players we have on the 40-man. Would be a fit as a corner OF over Bryan De La Cruz (who has minor league options). He's been productive in the minors, and looked solid in a cup-of-coffee at the MLB level. It would probably take a minor trade (like cash considerations) to get him, as I see no way he passes thru waivers.

I'm on board. Looking at the stats, it seems like the best-case scenario for him would probably be a low-OBP, high-SLG guy with a lot of strikeouts, but hey, we've acquired Adam Duvall about 37 different times over the last five years, so we're clearly cool with that player archetype.

Isn't Canario terrible defensively? Like Soler level bad? Maybe I am misremembering that.

The FG report from last Summer has him at 40 fielding and 60 throw. So not too bad, and has the arm to play RF. Since we wouldn't need him to even fill-in at CF (Kelenic backing up Harris and Marisnick at Gwinnett if disaster strikes), it seems workable defensively.
