I'm aware that everything that isn't unfettered free markets is socialist to you.

Whats going to end up happening is more free trade in the world as a result (aside form China) and you'll somehow trash it.

More free trade will create more trade deficits for US. And Trump has made clear this is unacceptable.

Unless this is another one of those Trump is lying about what he wants again for some unknown strategic reason that only the MAGA radio crew can decipher

Yes - Trump making statements (really directly at China) should be discussed as if it means everyone.

Trump was very quick to take tariffs off mostly everyone but China.

because it was probably the dumbest economic policy of my lifetime, and plunged markets into panic not seen since covid or the housing collapse?

and the richest man on the planet pleased with him to come to his senses? and - per Trump - the CEO of JP Morgan went on TV and said something needed to change?
