good point...they should be offering to fully cooperateWhat situation?
Enforcing US laws?
which other laws should sitting us governors actively try to stop from being enforced?good point...they should be offering to fulling cooperate
last I checked the US Constitution grants the federal government authority with regard to immigration. The people breaking our laws in this instance are the political leaders of Californiai dunno...states have discretion in a federal system...like DeSantis said he wouldn't extradite a certain felon
but i think this is a much more serious situation...we have been invaded and occupied and our national identity is at stake
Is it your position that the only way to deport an illegal alien is that the state police force must do it?it sure does...and states and localities have authority over their resources
what's the problem...the constitution gives the president authority to pursue mass deportations but not authority over state and local resources in the pursuit of that end
what did i say to make you think that...the federal government has the constitutional power and the resources to do this...if a state decided not to allow its resources to be used for that purpose i believe that is also allowed under the constitutionIs it your position that the only way to deport an illegal alien is that the state police force must do it?
so your position is that states have the legal right to violate federal law when it comes to immigration, correct?what did i say to make you think that...the federal government has the constitutional power and the resources to do this...if a state decided not to allow its resources to be used for that purpose i believe that is also allowed under the constitution
it is not a state responsibility....the federal government has plenty of resources to enforce its laws...unless the courts rule otherwise I believe that states and cities are within their legal rights not to cooperate with federal law enforcement...and certainly in the case of the mass immigration sweeps being conducted by ICE a policy of non-cooperation is something i strongly support...we do have a federal system after allso your position is that states have the legal right to violate federal law when it comes to immigration, correct?
if a father kills someone and we arrest them, should we not do that because it separates families?
I have similar views. We should pass a law regularizing the status of people who have been here five-years or longer and give them a pathway to citizenship.
so why do we make an exception with this talking point about criminals who are here illegally? No. Most criminals have families and we have no trouble dealing with them.
do you not believe crossing the border illegally is a crime?I don't. If they commit a crime they should be deported.
Indeed. We should deport everyone who spent any time here on an expired visa. Fair is fair.do you not believe crossing the border illegally is a crime?
