Acuna Officially On IL; Kelenic Recalled

Rodriguez is a slap hitting, walk machine. I have a feeling he would get carved up in the Bigs... that being said, we already KNOW JK is going to get carved up in the bigs... so it just goes along with the point that AA is not a very good GM.

I think the new GM, after AA is finally fired after 2026, is going to have to unload the current team and start a very long rebuild.

someone needs to shove a mic in AA's face and directly ask him what he knew before Acuna tweaked his Achilles last night.. was he aware he was playing not 100%.. if so, why.. if not, what are his thoughts about him playing hurt..

First off, I am not a very good baseball player. In fact, I am a lousy baseball player. But I played in an over-35 league during the H.W. Bush administration and to hone what little skill I had, I worked out at a place that was owned by a former minor league pitcher and then-Twins' 3B Gary Gaetti. The instructors were former minor league or college players and a bunch of minor league players worked out there in the off-season. Don't worry. I wasn't stupid enough to pay for instruction because I realized the best teacher cannot help someone who--in this instance--was riding the baseball ability short bus.

Anyway, I digress. I would shoot the sh*t with some of the minor league players and amaze them with my lack of knowledge about baseball, but one of them made a pertinent point to me that has stuck with me since. This guy was out-performing a higher draft pick by a fair margin in the same system, but the higher draft pick kept getting the attention and promotions. I asked "Why is that?" and he said it was simple. The franchise had invested a lot more in terms of dollars to the higher draft pick and they were bound and determined to wring whatever worth he had out of him. Actually, the high draft pick (who shall remain nameless) didn't start his career with the Braves, but had a couple of good seasons with them and in the end did out-perform the guy I was speaking to at the major league level. The guy I spoke with also played in the major leagues for a few seasons but had his career derailed by injuries.

The reason for this trip down memory lane is that the same thing is in play here with Kelenic. I don't know if it was $14 MM or $20 MM or $25 MM that the Braves had to swallow to acquire Kelenic, but you can be damned sure that he is going to get every chance to justify the expenditure. I suppose it can be argued against my point that the Braves didn't go into the 2025 season with a Kelenic/White platoon in LF and instead signed Profar after realizing that Kelenic wasn't going to cut it, but Kelenic is getting yet another chance to prove his worth here.

only counter to this is that this is hopefully only a 10 day assignment. even if JK balls out for 10 games, when Acuna comes back, is he staying up? probably not.. So unless the team already knows Acuna is going to miss more than 10 days, then this doesn't pass the smell test to me... Rod should have gotten the call to give him his shot..

The manager doesn't call the GM over everything that happens. The medical staff cleared him after he said he was fine. This is on Snit and the medical staff not the GM lol. Your hate is clouded as usual

Gotta save the players from themselves. Every player wants to play. He should’ve either DH’d or sat entirely. He’ll be fine, but a sore Achilles can go to a blown Achilles really quick (didn’t that happen to Haliburton in the Finals?). This, to me, is 100% on Snit

ok.. then if Twit is still employed after today, then isn't AA signing off on this behavior.
This goes over AA imo. McGuirk and Snit have been friends for forever and he's not gonna do that to his buddy. AA doesn't have that relationship with those guys so it's not gonna be his call on somebody that's been in the organization for almost 50 years.

Any criticism of AA is deflected to those above or below him, but praise for him is always well earned

I would quit then.. no way am I going to take charge of a team that I can't actually take charge of.. screw that shit.

I think that is sore calf or strained calf can lead to blown Achilles. But point is valid.

Snit aggravates the hell out of me. He always claims he didnt know what was going on till the following day and then he still acts clueless. He 💯 knows what's going on and just wants to act innocent. I've never wanted somebody let go this bad from the team.

I am gonna guess Brian Jordan was the high drafted guy and had a couple good seasons here.

BTW, I spent way too long looking up mid 90's rosters trying to identify who this is.

Any criticism of AA is deflected to those above or below him, but praise for him is always well earned. All you and Matt do is criticize constantly all day every day. It's a tired act
So predictable. You and Matt show up to criticize all day everyday. AA isn't getting fired or let go anytime soon so just give it up. AA isn't the owner so yes people above him do have the power to tell him what to do and McGuirk has always been hands on. I'm sure you blame AA for getting stuck at a red light this morning to. It's a tired act.
