TRHLIM

I think it's fair to say you don't appreciate the tone of excitement about it... but if you zoom out, it makes more sense.

For starters, the country has been intentional about letting in millions of people over the years. The people who voted for Trump are sick of it and out for blood so to speak, so the people who are hired are leaning in

Secondly, we see police enthusiastilaly post pictures of drug busts, or take pride in catching a murderer or whatever. ICE's job is to catch people who have broken our laws. Why should they be ashamed of successfully doing their job?

The issue to me is just about all those people in ICE are here in the first place because of liberal immigration policies of the past that let millions in. Trumps own grandfather illegally immigrated to America. I think 90% of people support deporting illegal immigrants who commit serious crimes. But this isnt about criminal illegal immigrants. Its not about illegal immigrants. Its just hate for immigrants in general. If you recall the rhetoric from Trump it started with we just want to get rid of the illegal immigrants and was supporting legal immigration. Now its just against any and all immigration. They specifically revoked the legal status to make people who did legally immigrate are now illegal then call them illegal immigrants. I am all for getting rid of illegal immigrants but those that have been here for 20+ years working and not committing crimes are not the people we should be deporting. Those people should have a path to citizenship. My neighbors been here since 96. He has his very own successful construction business. He is scared to leave his house. I didnt know he was illegal until recently but I have known quite a few good hard working illegal immigrants. Better people than most of you to be honest.

If the government finds and arrests a murderer, I hope they celebrate. We all should

What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Yeah I know its a joke anyways but they generally dont know if the person is guilty only if they are accused. Should the cops who arrested Karen Read celebrate when they arrested her? How about Kyle Rittenhouse? Should the courthouse Trump was arraigned in have thrown a party? I am fine with it as long as we are consistent. When a cop gets arrested for murder I want to see the PD throwing a party to celebrate arresting him complete with a Magician and ballon animals.

Remember kids, if you show kindness to another person even if you don’t agree with or understand something, you’re simply setting them up to kill themselves.

She didn't leave a note and gave no indication she was suicidal before suddenly leaping to her death, just four days after attending her brother's wedding

'Sadly, we’ll never fully know the reason for her death, but the pain left behind after her sudden departure has been acute,' her family wrote in her obituary.

The new job was a turning point for Hudson after several years of struggling with her gender and unemployment after graduating from Wheaton College in 2020.

Transition costs were expensive, running to $875 a month according to a 2022 court petition to legally change her name, plus more for counseling.

But the job never quite fit - both literally, with a boxy uniform that led to passengers innocently calling her 'sir', and her isolation in the role.

Several times, first in March 2024, she was reprimanded for failing to adhere to strict sick day policies - and in both reports supervisors referred to her as a man.

Her family point to a traumatic brain injury cause by a fall during gymnastics in her sophomore year of high school as the start of her struggles.

David, as she was known before her transition, appeared to bounce back but 'his cognitive abilities would later become compromised as he got older'.

Good god, what a bullshit headline.

On the other hand, if someone is willing to go berserk and end their life if people dont participate in their delusion, then perhaps the issue is in their brain
As Aces rightfully pointed out, this individual’s brain was clearly broken in a way that had little to do with the misgendering incident and the headline was nonsense. But even if the issue is in that person’s brain, it does not logically follow that using their preferred pronouns is setting that person up to kill themselves. If anything, it’s the opposite of that if you take the headline at face value. It’s a lazy argument that boils down to trying to make misgendering a trans person a heroic act.

I assume you're not a Christian... imagine if I insisted you say Christ is the son of God and the only salvation that can be had... and if you refused to say that, you are a bigot and I have a license to have a mental breakdown

Or, if I'm a flat earther and I demand you say the earth is flat to affirm my beliefs... and not doing so would be bigoted and give me a license to lash out

Or, if I'm anorexic - convinced I am obese - and I insist you affirm that belief. Give me ozempic and insist I go on a crash diet. Not doing so will make you. a bigot and the reason I would kill myself

the whole thing is ridiculous. I don't know the specifics of the crazy bus driver but the idea that we must go along and affirm whatever anyone insists or else we are to blame for their breakdowns is absurd

1) In this scenario, I would not intentionally tell you Christ is not the son of God and that you are wrong for thinking so. I would tell you that I respect your belief in your religion, am happy for the fulfillment it brings you and that I don’t have any better answer myself so you might be right.

2) I would politely listen to you and probably affirm your beliefs to appease you and be done with the conversation, because my knowledge of the science behind my beliefs would likely get me nowhere in the conversation. I would be harmed in no way by my lie.

3) You’ve now delved into a hypothetical that is in fact not congruent at all, as doctors would not prescribe Ozempic or advise a crash diet to an anorexic patient. They would prescribe certain treatments to a person they diagnose to be suffering from gender dysphoria. But I suspect you actually are willing to listen to doctors when they make recommendations to anorexic patients, as opposed to just knowing better when they make decisions you disagree with on trans people.

1. I am demanding you say it. And not saying it may get you fired from your job

2. I don't want you to agree with me to be polite. I want you to say it and believe it because not doing so makes you a bigot. I want you to affirm my beliefs and when you go to your office you need to tell others the earth is flat because not doing so means you reject the science

3. Do you think the doctors are wrong to not affirm the beliefs of a person who is certain about their body?

1) There’s a big difference between a discussion about showing kindness toward another person despite your misgivings on their gender identity and one of what the consequences of not doing so should be.

2) But all I’m asking of you is to consider not misgendering a person for the sake of being cruel. Again, this isn’t a discussion on the broader issue of what should be done to an employee who disagrees, it’s a discussion on whether it’s wrong to politely use someone’s preferred pronouns. But I do contend that businesses are welcome to make their own choices on the matter. If a company wanted to fire me for not telling the workplace the earth is flat, that’s their prerogative, even if a dumb one.

3) No, I don’t. But again, medicine doesn’t do that in general, yet here we are. Do you believe you know more about how gender works and how to handle someone with gender dysphoria than someone who has devoted years of their life studying the subject and establishing standards of care?

What's retarded about your stance, you can just call people by their names and avoid any pronoun issues. Most trans people I know wouldn't be offended by a stranger calling them the wrong pronouns, but if they corrected them and they still did it then that's different.

1. Earlier you said you wound't tell me im wrong, but neither would you say im correct. In an everyday scenario, if some lunatic dude insisted he was a she, I'm probably not gonna insist that he is a he... instead, im looking to get out of there in case he decides I'm the straw to make him go berserk. But there will never be a situation where I say something I don't believe is true just to appease someone. I will never call him a she. If it becomes apparent he's the dude from all the Disney videos who wants the attention? Then yea, I will relentless remind him he is an ugly dude and we all know it

2. See above. I don't go around looking for people to be mean to. I don't make fun of the mentally ill. I feel bad for them. but I also don't tell them they're definitely fat because they say so. There are also considerable downsides for society to tolerate such a delusion... like the fact that we now have parents losing their kids, or kids getting their genital cut off... or companies firing people for saying the truth. We being so empathetic for a decade has created this hostile enviornemnt where we either agree with a delusion or risk losing our job, our kids, or the nut job deciding to go on a murder spree

3. I believe medicine will do what they think will make them money. And trans care is a cash cow. I also think we have created a society where not going along with this insanity will get you ostracized... and people will go along with it just to avoid that. My wife is in medicine... we talk about this all the time. She knows they're insane but she says she goes along with it because not doing so could have catastrophic consequences to her career. She calls the ugly dude a she to avoid a lawsuit - one she would probably lose because our society is currently going to war over ensuring men can get into women's locker rooms

I don't seek to be mean to the mentally ill but I also won't pretend the mentally ill are correct and I must agree with their delusions

Fundamental difference of opinion. I’m willing to have enough empathy for the Christian or the flat-earther to not correct them and to engage with them respectfully, not because of fear for my refusal to do so, but because I don’t wish to bring them discomfort. I don’t really care whether I believe in what they believe, because it’s not my job to be the arbiter of truth. If I can bring more good into the world by not challenging someone on their faith or using a pronoun someone wants me to use (language is also a damn construct and pronouns aren’t a naturally occurring fact of nature so I disagree with you on whether it’s even “true” or not, but alas) then that’s what I intend to do.

But you are privileged to live in a society where you've never been scolded to say things you dont believe

Not all of us can say that
