Snit Watch

I will say, it seems AA probably made this decision a while back, which is yet another sign of concern for me with him. One would have thought they could have announced this at least a month or 2 ago and let Snit have his swan song and a nice final day send off at the end of the season with a pre game ceremony and all the works with his family in attendance. Certainly this is something they would never to have allowed to happen with Cox.

It's a troubling pattern with AA, with this and the handling of the Kimbrel situation, and also the Culberson treatment. I'm sure there are probably other examples, but they escape me at the moment.
Why does it seem like that? Feels like a lot of assumptions are being made to criticize AA for this being announced now

IIRC, that Culberson situation was completely overblown.

And you’re making a lot of assumptions about this particular situation.

That's the assumption but I don't think this was believed to be an open spot a year ago. And the Rangers likely looked a lot better a year ago too.
This is the best response. Noting has been announced with Schumaker and Atlanta wasn't open and now it is.

I’m guilty of assuming Skip to take over in Texas. I still think that’s the likely case, but yes, until anything is announced in that regard, it’s not a certainty

I figured when Bochy was announced as gone that Schumaker wouldn't be far behind as named new manager and he still isn't. I wonder if AA knew this was coming and reached out for permission to talk to Schumaker and that's what prompted them to let Bochy go.

Atlanta is probably the most desirable managerial position open now. I hope Schumaker is a possibility.
I think he was nearly a lock for Texas, but things are going to change for candidates with Atlanta being on the board. This is a crazy good opportunity with an established team.

It's also important to add that this team has an incredible culture. Everyone talks about it. People want to be here.

Because it's awfully convenient that Snit just randomly made this decision after being non-committal on retiring for months now, despite multiple articles from MLB insiders who reported the Braves would likely be looking for a replacement this winter. And also not being under contract for next year is a pretty good giveaway.

Does that mean it's a fact that it what happened? Nope. But there is plenty enough to speculate.

Not anymore. Watch the press conference.

I don't recall it that way at all. His dad was set to throw him the first pitch on father's day. It had already been announced.

Something about they already knew that Culberson would or could be released that day before they accepted.

Okay, you clearly haven’t watched the press conference. They aren’t acting.

I didn't say they were. I don't believe there is necessarily any "bad blood" between them.

That doesn't mean this was a decision Snit just made over the weekend.

It doesn't matter now, but my hope is AA was going to let Snit make the decision for himself to retire, and if not, have to have a tough conversation with him about not coming back. It would appear Snit chose to make the decision himself.
