TRHLIM

What major demo is being attracted by bad bunny?

I don’t really care, but it’s an easy call with almost any legendary performer being an easy call.

Like it’s hard to make a bad decision and they did
I dunno, any of his 77 million monthly listeners? The NFL is trying to grow globally and Bad Bunny is one of the biggest artists in the world right now appeals to a broad range of people who might not be interested in the NFL already. Should they find a less popular artist? Bad Bunny *is* a legendary artist. Just not one you listen to.

It’s not about drawing new demos. There has been a crusade for 40 years to get America to embrace rap and the worst parts of the culture that fuels it. I’ll refrain from saying who leads the crusade and what their motivations might be in the hopes that others will look it up for themselves and wonder, but it’s all part of the same plan we’ve seen playing out elsewhere to destabilize American culture.

If someone really wants to make America great again, preventing companies from owning both the production and distribution of media would be a great place to start.
I think you’re looking at this from the very narrow perspective of someone who doesn’t enjoy the music. Rap music is not being forced upon the unwilling masses, it’s just broadly popular. I think when it comes to things like the SB halftime show or media or whatever institutions you’re describing that are pushing it, there’s a lot of cynical embraces of rap music. But millions of people genuinely like it and listen to it.

Very few liked rap initially because the early rap was very dark and victimy. It gained a lot of mainstream popularity with Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Kid n Play, Fresh Prince, and similar artists making it fun. Those guys were all very different than the gangster and trap stuff that has been pushed so hard since. People generally like what they are conditioned to like. Music companies have spent many millions researching how to best make people like their music, and billions more buying the radio stations and music apps to use that knowledge by picking the playlists.

While I understand your point, you’re also pretty directly inserting your subjective preferences in media as the reasonable standard here in a way that I think is unjustified. I have no doubts that much of my taste in music was influenced by these very people, but I’m still a consumer exercising my preferences when I listen to music. I listen to a lot of music and my tastes vary wildly, and rap music is not solely in my rotation because I haven’t been exposed to better music.

You mention acts that had crossover appeal as if they were the best artists in the genre because it appealed to you. And yes, the music being catchy and broadly appealing led to many others like you tuning in. But some of that audience that was drawn in by the new sound actually just liked that music and happily started listening to other artists like Tupac and Nas and Jay-Z that brought story-telling and more creative rhymes and sounds to the table than the acts you’re referring to. When I listen to a Tupac song I’m not glorifying violence any more than if I turned on The Godfather.

You are absolutely welcome to not join in appreciating the art and I think there are legitimate and significant criticisms to aim at major portions of the industry for its direct links to drugs and crime. But art about the ills of society are frequently among the most compelling to a lot of people, and I think it’s a bit cynical to specifically treat the audience of that media as sheep.

I only like one rap song. But then I also only like one Dolly Parton song. I guess the media conditioning never reached me. I do like multiple songs by certain artists and groups, such as Sting and the Doors.

I never got the Dolly Parton love. I don’t care for her voice or her style.

8 years of Vance.

Then your favorite miller.

Then hegseth

What a time for you coming up!
Hegseth might not make it through the end of Trump’s term. I appreciate the changes he has made but my gosh someone who is that unpersonable should learn to keep their foot out of their mouth.

Personally I think you’re wrong about hegseth. Especially how he is perceived by the young generation (sub 30). Think he has a clear path to the big chair with prominent roles in the next two MAGA admins.

Don’t think he’s in any danger at all.

Thought this was cool.

You have Erica Kirk forgiving the assassin. Christians reaching out and raising money to support the family of a crazy shooter who murdered them because of their beliefs.

Western (Christians) values are good. We should embrace them more

Don’t need “approval” from anyone. We just want debauchery to be put back in the shadows as it belongs.
