2025-2026 offseason thread

How could MLB practically install a salary cap anyway, when the Dodgers etc have already committed massive guaranteed contracts for a decade
I’ve thought about this as well. It does seem rather unfair to change the rules in the middle of the game. But it’s not without precedent, they implemented and changed the luxury tax system after all.

Twins aren't being run very well at the moment. I think you might be surprised.
If there's a chance to get either or both, I'm in 100%! But there's just no way. lol This would be an unbelievable roster with so much flexibility, though...

Acuna RF/DH
Buxton LF/DH
Olson 1B
Riley 3B
Baldwin/Murphy C
Profar DH/LF
Albies 2B
Harris CF
SS

Sale - Schwelly - Ryan - Strider - Lopez

Is that Reynaldo or Pablo? Bc no way we get both SP from them

That dude needs to be a BP arm 100% and spot starter for an injury. I don't know if we can afford it but if we used Waldrep in a deal I'd try to sign Bassitt for the back of the rotation.
AA has already said ReyLo is absolutely expected to be a starter. His velocity is up and team doctors say he's 100%. But I agree with you - I'd move him to BP where's a legit weapon and sign Bassitt or trade for Gray.

I don't trust the front office or our medical staff. Lopez is a ticking time bomb and luckily this will be the last year of his deal. They are gonna put to much faith into Lopez and Holmes and it's gonna backfire and we'll be stuck again with other teams cast offs like this year. If we can get Gray or Ryan then tell them they have to take Lopez back to cut down on the cost.

Why are people so hell bent on Reynaldo being a reliever? He missed last year with a shoulder injury, but he proved in 2024 that he is a viable middle of the rotation or better starter. If he’s healthy, he should get a chance to be a starter again. Especially for a team that needs starting pitching.

This doesn’t mean that the Braves do not need to add another another bonafide starter to their rotation.

Bc he had forearm and shoulder inflammation in 24 and then the shoulder acted up again early this year and he missed all season. He never went deep into games when he did start I like Lopez but to get the most out of him he can spot start and be depth for the BP and rotation.

It would be pretty stupid to rely on Lopez in the rotation. How many times does he have to be injured before folks realize he probably isn’t going to produce a full workload?

It would be pretty hard to trade Waldrep after he completely revamped his entire arsenal and showed he has true potential to be the exact MOR everyone predicts the Braves are going to sign.

I would be more interested in how he broke his elbow over if he is healthy in November. I don’t think I can recall a pitcher just breaking an elbow pitching. Is there something bigger or is it just a really freak thing.

I don’t see Bichette as an AA-type player/sign. He’s going to get paid a lot and can’t play SS, but you’ll be paying him like a great hitting SS.

Exactly why I said we shouldn’t rely on him. But he should get a chance to start. I even bolded that last sentence for you.
