Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

I was initially a bit annoyed with this because it appeared to be the left mostly misrepresenting a policy that just removed the term hate symbols outright and putting any hate symbols in a new bucket. But then the entire federal government decided to lie their fucking asses off about it all day yesterday and quietly put out a new policy that backed up their lies that they never did such a thing. Congrats to the Trump Administration for turning their own defensible policy into another scandal to own the left.
 
Trump effectively ended the political career of MTG (good riddance) and legitimized a self proclaimed socialist in the same week.

Well timed vacations are well timed.
 
This whole thing is showing the absolute worst of our society. Two of the most influential men in America had a cordial meeting and publicly showed a willingness to work together to ensure our most populous city is not adversely affected by their vast political differences and opposing policy aims. And not a single fucking person on either side of the aisle is capable of putting down their knives long enough to just embrace the spirit of that approach. So instead we get people insisting that Mamdani played Trump like a fiddle or vice versa. Why can’t cooperation and diplomacy be the goal?

On what planet do you expect me to be happy that the federal government is looking to help a communist be successful at implementing communism

Its so insane to me how tolerant you supposedly educated people are of Marxism

I guess my point is that at a time in American politics where both sides do nothing but shout at each other about why the other side is to blame for political violence and demonization that we should embrace these particular optics. Having Donald Trump call Mamdani a reasonable man who wants to see New York succeed instead of a violent Jihadist hellbent on destruction isn’t entirely meaningless.
 
NY City provides massive transfers and technological spillovers each year to the rest of the country. It doesn't need "help" from the federal government. Mamdani is smart to cultivate Trump because of the simple reality that Trump can hurt NY.

It doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t matter.
