2025-2026 offseason thread

I’ve read the deal. They have to pay him a state minimum living wage until he recoups the redemption date, 99.5 % deferred until 2045

He gets a free Disney annual pass for 4 and a 250$ gift card to shake shack once a month

Detroit Free Press’ Evan Petzold reports that the Tigers are interested in free agent SS Ha-Seong Kim.
Kim is coming off a rough, injury-plagued season in which he hit .234/.304/.345 in 48 games with the Rays and Braves. He was significantly better with Atlanta to close the year, hitting .253/.316/.368 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 24 games. In his career, Kim has been a solid defender at shortstop and also shown the ability to play second base and third base. The Tigers have been using Zach McKinstry a lot at shortstop with Trey Sweeney not developing the way the team had hoped. That means the spot could be open for a free agent, like Kim.
Here's a guess: Ha-Seong Kim gets 4 years, $70-80 MM.

guys are making what a team is willing to pay them. We can laugh and say, 'boy they are going to regret that'.. and then watch our GM sign a bunch of crap that is riddled with injuries or hoping they bounce back while giving significant playing time to guys like Eli White, Nick Allen, Jesse Chavez and 10 other garbage players...

Two more rumblings at the Winter Meetings:
- the Dodgers are very seriously in on Skubal, should the Tigers ultimately decide to trade him. (We discussed a bit yesterday)
- the Phillies have entered the conversation for Ketel Marte

I could see that. He's versatile on the INF and could DH quite a bit
It would make a lot of sense if he had played any SS since COVID seasons. As it is, he'd be a DH who could spell guys at all of the IF positions, but probably only 2B and 3B on an extended basis.

That’s what we need. Someone to fill in at 3B, 2B, 1B, and LF once a week or so while mostly DH’ing. Sign Kim for SS.

And it just happens that our 3b and 2b have been injured several times lately. I'd take Polanco over the other options to DH and spell guys.

Ketel Marte's name was mentioned with us earlier on MLB radio. AA is the kind if he can't upgrade SS then he will another position. We have Albies but Marte would be a huge boost to the lineup. I'd hate to see what it'd take.
