2025-2026 offseason thread

While their total package grades out similar, it’s nice that Dubon’s comes with a little more power potential.
Sure.

But 2023 was the perfect time to use someone like Lopez. We had arguably the most prolific offense in the modern era. Giving someone an off day to rotate Lopez in was the perfect situation when we acquired him.

Hence why I said this will be a test to see if Weiss will actually use Dubon the way Lopez should have been used back then.

Who all would be realistic TOR SP that could be available? Ryan and Peralta? Peralta would be amazing too
Both of them dont cost a ton of money. Would still be just under the 3rd luxury tax, and have enough for some deadline moves.

They're paying Dubon, like 6M. Thats way too much to sit on the bench. They have plans for him clearly.

For sure… Nicky was one of the better unheralded fits for a fringe guy in recent memory

Am I missing something with Ryan? He's consistently solid but hasn't had a season where I'd classify him as a TOR guy.
I’m not sure if he’s a true TOR guy but I think he’s a very solid number 2 type with maybe a bit more to dream on. I think you’re wagering he can take another step as I think he has the raw stuff to. His swing and miss stuff coupled with fantastic control is pretty unique

Regarding Dubon vs Lopez and in light of Enscheff's comment, it's worth noting that Dubon has a career .328 wOBA vs lefties that complements Yaz's platoon splits. Lopez sucked equally against both.

Didn't need Lopez to have a great bat in 2023 when our offense was one of the best in the history of the game.

We have way more question marks coming in to this season offensively. Will Riley rebound to his big contract #'s? Will Ozzie rebound? Will Kim have a really good seaosn. Will Harris not suck for half a season? What will Ronald's production be? Profar full season. Murphy health. Baldwin sophomore slump? Olson seems to be the only sure thing offensively headed in to next year. I don't think Ronald will replicate his 2023 season.

So yes, Dubon's bat is more important this year, but when we acquired Lopez, we had a solid lineup 1-9 (including Arcia's career year).

How? Nicky Lopez was playing fantastic defense in 2023 as well.

Lopez 2023: 1.8 bWAR
Dubon 2025: 1.7 bWAR
He is a better hitter and a more versatile defender. fWAR last three years is a clear advantage. Lopez accepting a minor league deal while Dubón makes $6m also tells us the difference in value between the two. Lopez was making peanuts then and still is. I just don’t believe AA is paying Dubón $6m to be treated like minor league deal Lopez. I also wish Lopez was used more though

I'll definitely take Livvy in a Braves jersey

I deleted my post by accident -
Need to call the Pirates and give them AJSS, Caminiti, Owen Murphy, one of Didier/Waldrep/JR, then Lara and Nacho + their PTBNL back+ that 26th pick …..for their pitcher (and his wife).
That might move it up to an “ Enscheff A”
