Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

I get it and appreciate the sentiment. The unfortunate reality is that we are in a bipolar Cold War again. Asia, Europe, and Africa all have example of Chinese infrastructure “investments” that turned into hostile takeovers. Greece is in the EU and NATO and still took the money and paid the same price for it that everyone else does. That happening in Greenland is unacceptable, EU and NATO has shown they will allow it, so there’s only choice remaining.
Showing ourselves to be an even less reliable ally by expanding into their territory does not help us in that scenario and instead isolates us on the world stage.

Ditto for Iceland. Even more crucial because of sensitive underwater cables used for both commerce and espionage. Should never have been allowed to become an independent country.
Iceland is in a key spot for sure. It’s also deeper under the influence of the US and its allies, and more self reliant.

I think the more people learn about Greenland and the future, the dumber people that mocked Trumpy for even bringing it up seem.

It is clear what needs to happen.

People speak too soon, and its a bad look.

It seems obvious to me that we can work with Denmark and the people of Greenland to reach a satisfactory security arrangement without the bluster, and while respecting their dignity and sovereignty. With or without the heavy-handed tactics, Greenland will be safe from Russian and Chinese influence.

The heavy-handedness, coercive tariffs and silly bluster will have a cost, however. That is also self-evident.

We can't forcibly take over Greenland from Denmark.

I hope that's just him blustering.

If Trump tries it he needs to be impeached and imprisoned.

Acquire it through legal means.
wise words

i might add the tariffs over Greenland are foolish and counterproductive

The Poles and Czechs absolutely had an economic gun to their heads to join the EU. They would gladly decouple from the rest of the arrangement if they could. As for Australia, I suspect most of the people in charge are aware of election cycles in the US, and likely hyperventilate less when they aren’t publicly virtue signaling and clutching pearls.
As an fyi Poland held a referendum on joining the EU. The yes vote was 77%.

I love when you self own

Japan - Has universal Early Voting.
South Korea - No mention i see of voter id

Could go on but I'll stop.

I'm fine with eliminating Absentee Ballots if they address 2 things.

1. COllege Students and people displaced by their jobs. How are those handled. Say I work a seasonal job in another state that requires me to live there, how is my voting status handled?
2. Universal Early voting. This means IMO at least a month before the election they're collecting ballots.

What did you prove with Japan here? No statement was made on 'early' voting.

You don't need a month to vote - Thats absolutely nonsense.
