Global Events & Politics Überthread

I just wouldn't be dancing around with joy at no casualties. Even in routes you have casualties. Americans will die because of this and that can be the right choice, I'm not saying it isn't (we won't know for some time until the dust settles on the regime change) but this is going to be a scray time for a lot of people.
So nothing has changed then?

It's not shockign that people that don't like Iran would consider dogpiling on them.

Iran is a bit of the black sheep in the ME, they're predominantly Shia, while Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, etc. are predominantly SUnni. Sunnis will absolutely capitalize on this to depose Shias.

No Arab nation dare side with US/Israel in the past. Not a chance.

It should not be underestimated what a malign influence Iran has had in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and elsewhere. The reduction of that influence is a very good thang.

For example, this is what has been happening in Lebanon:

On Thursday, the cabinet reinstated visa requirements for Iranian citizens and directed authorities to stop all IRGC military or security activities, with arrests leading to deportation. These steps follow the March 2 ban on Hezbollah's military operations, where the army has arrested 27 people for illegal weapons in recent days. Officials aim to tighten border controls and enforce the state's monopoly on force amid an Israeli ultimatum warning IRGC representatives to leave or face strikes. The moves signal Lebanon's effort to reassert sovereignty after Israel's campaign weakened Hezbollah.

I would make a similar point about how Maduro and Venezuela under Maduro have destabilized its neighbors. Not in the same way as Iran. But the results have been very bad for an entire region.

Thank goodness the US military is keeping me safe from being nuked by doing war crimes.
This is certainly a take. Iranian naval forces were engaged in warfare against the US and international shipping in general. Was this ship “on base” or something like a kids game of tag? Was the US supposed to wait until it got back into some specific range of Iran before attacking? Is there some reason to believe that this ship wouldn’t behave as every other Iranian military asset and should be exempt from consequences?

I feel like you didn’t read the headline or the guys tweet and couldn’t wait to gleefully ignore common sense here.

Is that correct?

Trump has absolutely neutered the CCP.

This is the #2 issue on my list for him.

#1 was immigration enforcement and he has done that incredibly well.

It’s amazing people don’t realize how great the last 13 months have been. Best of our lifetimes.
