GDT 5/20/26: Braves @ Marlins - Fish for Sale

So thankful the Phillies lost and our lead is back to 9. I was gettin worried...
Philly played one of their easiest stretches of the year, while Atlanta had LA and Sea on the road, plus the Cubs. Philly's next 12 are 3 with Cle, 6 with SD, and 3 with the Dodgers. Braves can easily bury them in that stretch. If Philly went around .500, that would be impressive, that's a brutal stretch of games.

Even then, a 7 game lead is pretty fucking huge, and is still the largest in baseball. It just shows how hard it is to overcome a huge lead. You have to play like unsustainable baseball and the team ahead of you needs to have a collapse like no other.

Ask the ‘22 Mets!

But seriously, I agree with you- and Philly doesn’t have the pitching and roster to overcome a 9 game hole I don’t think. Rather, I suspect they will slowly fall away into oblivion.

They have three really good starting pitchers, two really good hitters, one really good RP, and not much else. Top heavy team that relies on Schwarber hitting a home run every single night to win.

No one is buried in June.... except for the Mets, lol.

Phillies will be solid as long as they are semi healthy. But Harper misses a minimum of 20 games a year, so when he inevitably goes on the IL, they are going to be up shit creek.

I think they could survive that easier than a Wheeler or Sanchez hitting the IL imo...

The blue circle with the "In play, run(s)" is just such a satisfying visual when it's the Braves. What an at-bat Dom... geez. Dude has been insane.
