FIFA World Cup 2014

I'd like to see Croatia beat Cameroon and Mexico and rise up to take #2 in group A over Mexico.

THey should. I bet them to advance in the group. (-110). Tough start, but the 4-0 drubbing of Cameroon means they just need a draw now.

It might feel lucky because we escaped so many Ghana scoring opportunities, but you have to remember that Tim Howard is one of the best keepers in the world (despite gilesfan's opinion on the matter).

WHere does this come from?

I've been reading a lot of Klinnsman hate on forums and sports sites and I have no idea why.

I don't think an Arena or Bradley team would have beaten Ghana on Monday.

Klinnsman has given us so much credibility to where other nations take USA soccer serious now whereas before the only hype we had was our own media.

I would guess it's stubbornness. Klinsmann was a massive change from the cater to the star type that Bradley was. Bradley JMO missed out on many positive US players with that behavior. Of course much of the US's current success is due to Klinsmann's scouting of German/Americans (Johnson, Brooks, and many others came over pretty much exclusively because of Jurgen's coaches' efforts) But Jurgen also found value in MLSers that didn't even get a consideration with Bradley like Zusi, Davis, Besler, Gonzalez, Beckerman, and more of course could have gotten looks by Bradley, but didn't. Well Davis did, but never seriously and clearly the guy has ability. Way more than some of the turds Bradley latched onto

No. They haev to win, Mexico has 4 points and Brazil has 4 points. So they need to win or they need to draw Mexico and have Brazil lose to Cameroon which is basically impossible. The extra goals for the Croats were unnecessary when Mexico drew Brazil.

Yeah, you are right. Keep forgetting Mexico drew with Brazil and was thinking about goal differential.

Croatia should stomp them beaners tho

If Ochoa stands on his head again it will be interesting. The Croats I suspect will control the ball too much for the Mexicans. Honestly I think if the Croats had Mandzukic they would have beaten the Brazilians, BS penalty or not. The Brazilians haven't been impressive through their group performance. They're gonna get through, but if they don't turn it on, the Netherlands or Chile could ruin them. Their performance against Mexico and Croatia wasn't impressive. They've scored 3 goals in 2 games, one on an undeserving penalty and 2 scuffed goals that a better goalie would save.

Come on man, you don't really believe this, right?

Were you watching the same game as I was. Ghana did nothing until Jozy went out. There didn't develop any chances for the first 20 minutes or even have a dominant control on the ball. The US was far and away the better side for th efirst 20 minutes. Ghana didn't look the better side until injuries took out 2 of the US's better performers.

Altidore isn't going to beat 5 guys in the box and force a goal in, but he's definitely going to bully some guys with his frame and allow other guys to sneak in. With Johannson, Ghana wasn't really doubling him nor pressuring him. THey were letting him do what he wanted and he ended up showing everyone he had no clue what he was doing so that meant Ghana could focus more on Dempsey and containing him.

Just to address Johannson really quick. Johannson is very good off the bench and very good when he's paired up with a striker, neither of those situations really presented themselves with Ghana. I would compare him at this point with Mix. Mix is gonna be a great player for the US if he continues to develop. right now Mix cannot start. Mix can come off the bench and totally change how the team looks. Johannson is the same way right now. He's also young. I really like the US's potential. When you look at this WC roster you see a bunch fo guys who should still be around next world cup and still be in form. By next world cup Cameron, Besler, Gonzalez, Fabian, and Timmy should all still be effective. Add in that Yedlin and Brooks being more experienced, I also like Shane O'Neill and we should avoid making him consider playing in Ireland. For our midfield we'll have a bunch of guys right around 30 like Bradley, Bedoya, and Zusi, and added experience for Green and Mix. For striking both Jozy and Johannson are young, They'll be 28 and 27 next WC respectivel so they should still be effective.

Of course then you have young guys who didn't make the WC roster who're intriguing, Joe Corona, Brek Shea, Luis Gil, Danny WIlliams, and Josh Gatt for midfielders (Gatt, Gil and Shea are my favorite, Gat and Shea for their potential physical) and for Forwards Boyd, Agudelo, Wood, and McInerney.

U.S. did not dominate for the first 20 mins as you claim. They virtually did nothing after the Dempsey goal

Jozy had 2 chances, one excellent and one decent. Dempsey had a goal. Ghana's only notes on the gamecast were 2 offsides and a few throwins Ghana did not have a shot until the 24th minute. If you don't call that domination, I don't know what to call it. Not to mention Jozy was in a position of potential danger before pulling up lame as he had possession of the ball and only 2 men back he would have at worst held it up and possessed the ball to get a chance for Dempsey.

oh so you are going by gamecast, ok.

Well I'm going by what I watched, and confirming it by gamecast. It's like if you watch the Columbia Ivory coast match righ tnow. Possession is about equal between the 2, but Columbia has clearly been the better side as Ivory coast have shown no teeth.

Fun thoght process, going with a 4-4-2 of some sort what would be your world cup dream team? For me

GK - Neuer
RB - Lahm
CB - Kompany
CB - Mats Hummels
LB - Marcelo
RM - Robben
CM - Iniesta
CM - Schweinsteiger
LM - Ronaldo
ST - Messi
ST - RvP

Of course I could go a million ways with a milion formations. I also had a few debates. Like Baines vs Marcelo, Thiago Silva vs Hummels, outside midfielders, and can I leave out Yaya Toure or Pirlo?

What a header by James Rodriguez. Imagine how good Columbia would be if they had Falcao? Cuadrado, Falcao, and Rodriguez would have been insane.
