I'm a 180 away from you. I think the Cards got totally hosed in this deal. Red Sox have replaced Gomes with a better player (who is having an off-year) and got a solid arm in Kelly. I don't trust Lackey at all anymore.

If true, with what I know of the internal workings with the Braves, this could potentially be good news for us...as in order for us to acquire Price we need to move salary with a third team involved.

It seems like the Braves could have done something like that with the Rays and another team. Find a team that needs pitching, but doesn't have enough talent to get Price on its own, and send them Santana for a couple of prospects. Braves send Bethancourt and a pitching prospect (Hursh maybe?), along with the prospects from the team that got Santana, to the Rays for Price. That would have both bolstered what we could offer and cleared enough payroll to obtain Price.

Braves are not getting Price, in fact, it sounds like they're not getting anybody.
