Ferguson....

By many accounts the police were the ones who started the escalation. By many of the accounts I read the rioting didn't start until the police showed up in force. Of course I'm sure you'll believe otherwise as I'm sure if there was a giant military police force showing up your reaction wouldn't be of self defense and you'd just listen to the cops cause they're you're buddies.

By many accounts Brown was shot in the back. Go figure.

So Zito, your reaction to a large police force in your town would be to loot the neighboring businesses. I have absolutely zero problem with the people protesting in the streets. Its a shame they were protesting because of a lie though.

How did the police start the escalation? By showing up?

Police could have easily diffused media speculation.

Agreed?

I am not sure how soon in a department like Ferguson. I am not sure of a timeline (i'd like to see it though)of the information and when a dept their size could obtain, check, and release reasonably. From what I read, these guys don't even have cameras in their vehicles. I don't think we are dealing with the CIA jr here. Questions? sure, but I infer from your post that you agree the media speculation was outrageous, and probably stirred the mass histeria for the most part at the onset.

Lol Nice troll job. But we're talking about different things here.

Ferguson Police called for assistance from St. Louis County and nearby municipalities as large, emotional crowds gathered at the scene. In all more than 100 officers from 15 departments responded to the area. Tactical teams in riot gear were also called in. A section of West Florissant Avenue near the scene was closed for a time on Saturday evening.

That doesn't sound like a measured or sound response

So the response to police showing up is looting local businesses. Odd response if you ask me.

That's what small town police forces do Zito. They call in neighbors to help. Ferguson probably has 4-6 officers on duty at one time.

Maybe your math is better than mine but a handful of cops can't control crowds and still do Thier job around town.

The police tend to be called when a large group of people start looting the streets.

So you've drawn your conclusion before the case has been finalized huh? What happened to letting the facts play out? Lol.

Anyway, no, my reaction would be of preservation. If someone showed up on your block in military vehicles would you just roll over? Or would you fight? I'm not condoning looting, that's opportunistic. But the Cops threw the firs tpunch by escalating, the protesters escalated letting opportunists in for looting. No looting occured by any report I have read before the police called for heavy backup.

Yeah, that's not what was happening according to anything I read. The looting and rioting happened after the police rolled in hot and heavy.

So it's ok to loot and riot if they police roll in hot and heavy?

Good question. What would my reaction be if "someone showed up on your block in military vehicles would you just roll over?"

let me see....options:

Go home, turn on tv and figure out wtf is going on?
Go home and lock doors to prevent any danger?
Go fine a Quickstop and grab some snickers bars and whatever else I can grab and then set it on fire.

I've never been in the situation, but I don't think option 3 would be very high up on my list of things to do.

Don't you get it: he only wanted to let "the facts" play out until, or so long as, he could label Mike Brown a thug.
