REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Ward has actually been graded out as one of the best DB's in the presesason. I felt he has had a tremendous exhibition series. NT might be an issue if Williams isn't healthy but Dial has showed some glimpses. That guy is a monster but we need to see it in games that count.

Whilhoite did a tremendous job replacing Willis last year. I think he does an adquate job but obviously it won't be Bowman esque. I think for the most part the defense is going to be better as a group. Lemonier has been a beast in pre-season and I think between him and Lynch they will be able to survive the imminent Aldon suspension. What I don't get is why people are nervous about the secondary. Eric Reid looks like a stud in the making. Same goes for Brock. Culliver was awesome in 2012 outside of the superbowl. I think the depth is solid there. I really believe the defense will be better in 2014 than in 2013. And, if Bowman comes back healthy and Aldon does what Aldon does then it has a chance to be even better than the 2011 defense.

Not sure what to think about offense. I love Ellington as well and I hope they utilize him often. That could end up being a steal of a pick. Ultimately though it comes down to Kap. If he doens't take the next step the offense isn't going anywhere. This is a huge year for him and he has to get it done.

Overall I think this is the most talented team the 49ers have had since Baalke has been here. That guy is a genius at what he does.

NFL announced new policy on domestic abuse:

1st offense - 6 games (still light if you ask me)
2nd offense - lifetime ban (Perfect)

LMAOOOO

Talk about an overreaction. 6 games for a misdemeanor? It better be for a conviction....a true conviction. Cause those are rare. If the guy pleas for counseling does that count? Majority of victims dont show up to prosecute anyway....and they really wont with these kinda ramifications. Which will lead to them suspending for allegations and such..

Goodell is an idiot.

Lynch looked solid. I'd like to see what he can do against a starting tackle.

The 3 interior o-linemen worry me. Iupati is a solid run blocker but terrible pass blocker.

Ellington doesn't even look like a rookie. Especially on returns. Doubt he'll catch more than 10 balls in the regular season but I'm curious to see what he does on special teams.

The loss of Bowman and the secondary have me worried. Reid and Brock are solid. Bathea got knocked the f out. I'm not sold on Culliver and Ward is a rookie and rookies in the secondary normally struggle. Reid was an anomaly last year. Can't remember the last time a Niners rookie in the secondary didn't look anything other than lost.

Hopefully Kap takes a step up this year and gets between 25-30 TD's. He looks good naked but I'd like to see him look better between the tackles.

I would agree with you on rookie secondary guys but Ward has been really good adn we are hearing the same things from Ward that we heard from Reid in his first camp.

Lynch looks like an absolute beast. He is behind Lemonier and Skuta on the depth chart but they need to find a way to get that kid on the field.

Very early and we won't know for at least two full seasons but the 2014 draft for the 49ers looks awesome so far. The last two drafts have made up for the pathetic 2012 draft.

Dude, the drafted players haven't played 1 game yet.

That's OK guys. Laugh it up now whIle you can. Preseason is still competition and beating the man opposite of you. In a year we will revisit this.

The Redskins are going to be cutting some pretty good players.

RB- Morris, Young, Royster, Helu, Seastrunk, Redd, Thompson. I have no idea what direction this will go, but probably Thompson and Royster cut with CT to practice squad. Royster can be a very good backup for somebody.

WR- Desean, Garcon, Roberts, Grant, Robinson are locks. Please just cut Moss or make him inactive on gamedays. Ross can be a return can in the NFL and Lawrence has talent.

OLB- Either Everette Brown or Gabe Miller will be cut. Either can be a backup OLB in a 3-4

ILB- Hayward, Compton, Jordan, Riley, Robinson, Sharpton all good linebackers or special teams players. Anyone that needs a ST ace and backup linebacker can look here.

K- Both Forbath and Hocker are pretty good kickers
