Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

The point that you missed is that they have a lot to lose by publishing false info. It's a throw away line to add in if you don't have a source. People don't always reveal sources because otherwise they may not give them info anymore.

I feel like this is an alternate universe where logic and sensibility has gone out the window.

It's 100% possible they're speculating/assuming.

Since you're the king of assumptions, why not assume the Braves low-balled him and offered $15 mil a year for 6 years?

Braves certainly weren't cheap that offseason. They were certainly willing to dole out money so the precedent that was set last year wasn't one of low balling their core players.

Tough to see Jason go - especially to the team that I despise the most. Seems like the move had to be made though, and the pieces coming back to Atlanta aren't too shabby.

Yes because a hidden source is better than information coming straight from the person in question.

You actually are living in a universe where logic and sensibility has gone out the window. Sucks for you.

I would like to think Hart would go back to JHey and try. But he didn't.

JHey said he heard the rumors. If he wanted to be a Brave he could have called Hart.

We can disagree, but maybe Hart thinks he is a 15 million dollar a year player. And if Jhey is looking for 25 (and that apparently is not an unreasonable ask) then why mess with it?

Link to Hart quotes please.

“He wanted a two-year deal and wasn’t interested in a long-term extension unless the dollars were maybe beyond where the club certainly wanted to go. We had a strong feeling he was going to go on the market. That’s what he wanted to do. We wanted to protect ourselves and position ourselves better. If we elect, next year, to be one of 30 [teams] that compete for Jason on the market then that’s what we’ll do.”

I never realized just how much the Braves fanbase loved Heyward. This deal was a no-brainer.

You think it was a no-brainer in November when there isn't a single respectable RF on the market? Not really even that great of an outfielder period out there.

Yes, because the Braves were facing losing a great player like HEyward for nothing but a compensatory pick. Now that would have been a disaster. This was good value for 1 year of a player who will have great production in 2015.

So he didn't know what Heyward wanted yearly or that he wanted to become a free agent. Just a maybe and some strong feelings.

I'd actually get on board with pursuing him again. If he wasn't going to give us a discount and top dollar is what it would have taken, it might as well be top dollar + Miller + Jenkins.

So basically Hart is spinning Jason wanting to get to get through his arbitration years as not wanting to sign a long term extension. Apparently he should of gone to them with that first because our FO is fairly obtuse and not capable of negotiating with Jason Heyward. Pretty much lets us know that they don't value Heyward.
