Seattle Restaurant Closings

The point of the chart is not to be taken quite so literally but as an indicator of the economic times . Then and now

Having said that and since we are going literal translation

I'm guessing you posted somewhere on some subject that people should better themselves.

If only they tried harder

No, not guessing -- betting

Not doing them any favors by legislating them out of a job, that's for sure.

What were interest rates back then compared to now?

Restaurants close every day for a variety of reasons. Commonly mismanagement or unreasonable expectations.
REmember two years ago when the threat of ACA was going to force all the business' out ?

Ever washed dishes in a restaurant ? Bussed tables ? Or waited tables ?
Personally I'd rather pay increased prices to assure the staff makes a living wage than have to pony up 20-25% at the end of the meal.
Let alone have to pass an arithmetic test with half a buzz on

I agree.

But 25%? Damn. High roller.

I was responding to the point you made, which didn't have any context at all. Why would you not factor in interest rates?

now that you made me think of it

or average MPG
or what was #1 on the billboard charts that year
Neilson Ratings ??
how many inches above or below the knee for hemlines

...

Google it then you tell me. It is the point you are trying to make !!!

I thought the lol-est part was where it said

"How many owners cited the minimum wage as a factor in their actions? None. "

If'n I coulda I'da spit coffee all over my monitor screen -- too much

How many were asked?

I think it Pro Freedom.
It affords people with low paying jobs the opportunity (freedom ) to advance their lives.
We are a nation that defines freedom by bank account.

The business owner still has the freedom to be in business or not. We as a society have set guidelines on how he treats / pays people .
do I have the freedom to run over your dog ? Obviously no ---
why then?

the best lol is that y'all are using the phrase "pro freedom" and "anti freedom"

free-dom

[free-duh m]

noun

1. the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint:

"He won his freedom after a retrial."

2. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.

3. the power to determine action without restraint.

4. political or national independence.

5. personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery

------------------------------------

Two consenting adult parties come to a mutually agreeable wage. The government steps in and says that wage is too low, breaking the deal. How the &%$# is that not "anti-freedom?" How is that even part of the debate?
