The 80s Cardinals comparisons need to stop. Those teams, specifically 87 are far better than this Braves team ever will be.

Vince Coleman, Ozzie, Jack Clark, Jose Oquendo, and TP. They had legit base stealers and they got on base at an awesome clip. Not too mention a real power threat.

Nobody is saying right now but there is talent down on the farm that is cut in that mold. This is 5 months into a massive rebuild that won't be near completed by the end of this season.

Was hoping to have seen Kohn called up.

Just so I could have been like:

In regards to Sugar Ray

Kiley McDaniel: Great name and saw him a few days ago. 90-92, above avg breaker and changeup, long levers, kinda interesting

I looked up some old scouting reports on the guy when the Braves signed him during the off-season. He was pegged as a low-ceiling guy, but if he can give us an inning here and there (and eat more than one at a time--cue the Harang jokes), he could help.

This team and the conversation surrounding Markakus hitting third reminds me of the ****storm Whitey Herzog created by hitting Tommy Herr third.
That team too had an road runner at the top of the order a get them around guy 2nd Herr and a big hitting 1B at clean up.
Coleman
McGee
Herr
Clark

EY
Calaspo
Nick
Freddie

The similarities between early 80's Cards and this team are astonishing. Right down to the best SS in the game.
3B on that team was Terry Pendelton

That because Tom Herr was pretty terrible as a hitter; even in 87 when they actually had a good offenses, he was the worst hitter on the team besides Pena.

And Jack Clark was an absolute monster that year.

P.S. Coleman struck out 126 times and McGee struck out 90 times.

I'll be pissed if he's traded for Severino or another pitching prospect. I get shopping Peraza if our front office is fully convinced Jace is a long term option. But we better get young controllable OF help. Yankees are desperate for middle infielders. I'd be on board for a Peraza/Judge swap

Would like to see Luis Torrens thrown in as icing on the cake with either of them if we did move Peraza. Doing so would say 3 things IMO...

1.) Wren & Company REALLY believe in Peterson long-term (or at least until Albies is ready).

2.) Wren & Company REALLY believe in Mallex Smith long-term.

3.) Wren & Company REALLY believe that Maybin can hold down the fort in CF until Smith is ready.

Adding Judge and Torrens would make our system amazingly deep. Of course I don't know if they could say no to Severino either. Would be interesting to see if they added him and tried to pawn Miller off on the Cubs for Almora. Kinda salivating over an imaginary rotation of Price, Teheran, Wood, Severino, Wisler.

Base stealers? Yes.

Power threat? For a year or two with Clark. None other than that.

On base at awesome clip? Sort of.

Not posting this to disagree with your main point. Really just commenting on how much I hated their plastic grass, fake ass brand of baseball. Living where I do I would probably be a Cardinals fan today if they hadn't played that boring ass style back then.

Can't Peterson play 3b? We have a desperate need for good right handed hitters in the lineup. Peraza/CJ/Peterson would make for a good platoon at 3b/2b and gives us atleast 1 good option off the bench for pinch hitting. Would be awesome of Peraza could play some CF too.

Ruiz is the heir apparent at this time and he has gotten off to a nice start so far this year.

Listen, if you could flip Peraza for Judge then that would solve the teams biggest problem moving forward.
