GDT 4/30/15 ATL vs CIN

And it would give Cunningham a few ABs in CF, which would mean less ABs for EYJ.

Yes, please.

I was going to advocate bringing Cunningham up and benching or cutting EY earlier this evening. I decided not to, so as not to be too much of a negative prick and all. But, criminy--anything that gets Todd up and EY out of the lineup, even if only a few nights, is a positive step.

It's not clear though. If it were, he'd be on the DL.

I really don't give a ****. He was on fire. And then he had that play with his leg. And if he's not injured, then he's been pitching scared ever since and is mentally shot. So regardless, he needs to be either skipped over to get his head right or put on the DL. Anyone who's ever watched him pitch can tell from his follow through and body language something isn't right, either physically or mentally.

The bullpen is a mess, the back end of our rotation is a joke, and there is no way this offense will keep up their current pace. This is a bad, bad baseball team.

The good news is that Wood and Teheran will probably improve.:FrediConfident:

Teheran looked like a totally different pitcher from last season when I watched the game on Tuesday night (first time I've seen him pitch this year). He was pitching backwards all night long. When he's right, he's working the fastball inside. He was leaving stuff up and out over the plate all night long. I think half the posters here could have hit the HR pitch to Lobaton.

Congratulations on not giving a ****. Not sure if you're aware, but pitchers do get into funks sometimes, especially young ones. Teheran will be fine if he's healthy.

Yes I understand that. The whole point I'm making is I don't believe he's fine. At all. It isn't just him missing pitch location at this point. But if he comes out the next couple outings and pitches well, then I'll eat the crow.

Nats sit Uggla down and put Escobar back in the line-up. So Escobar goes out and gets 3 hits. LOL.

PS--Teheran got off to a bad start in 2013 before righting the ship. He was solid pretty much beginning to end in 2014 though. Weather's been kind of funky. It may take him awhile to find his groove. My point is that he looked all out of joint on Tuesday night.

That's fine, and he very well may not be. But, he maintains that he is, and I seriously doubt even Hart and Fredi are dumb enough to let our young ace pitch through a potentially serious injury in meaningless games.

I'll keep telling myself that it's Smoltz in 1991 and that he'll figure it out and lead us to the WS, which we lose when Fredi doesn't bring Grilled Cheese in for the 4-out save, but still gets a lifetime contract extension.

Fredi has read too many Romantic poems extolling the virtues of spring. Poetry once again has led a baseball manager astray.

Pitching hurt will do that

The pitching as a whole is atrocious. 5th worst team FIP at 4.43 and 8th worst ERA at 4.35.

Miller has been good, other than the inexcusable giving up back to back to the 8-9 hitters tonight. Everyone else is making horrible pitches right now and can't finish hitters off. When they do get ahead with two strikes, they're pussyfooting around and not going after guys. That elevates pitch counts and gets us to a less than stellar bullpen early on. :FrediConfident:

That's a credible theory. I'd be curious to see what his pitch selection numbers were the other night. He was really in love with the off-speed stuff. If you're banged up, it can be difficult to get enough heat on the fastball.

The last two nights against the Nats, everything away got too much plate and was sitting too high. It's one thing to dink pitches to the opposite field. That Nats were just smoking that ball the opposite way.

His velocity was down too, which is probably a reason people think he is injured.
