GDT: 8-4-13 Braves at Phillies (Brooms Ready)

With a 3 or more run lead, I really hope Fredi is smart enough not to pitch Kimbrel tonight.

All of our relievers are capable of holding a 3 run lead. Don't manage to a statistic.

The problem is who do you pitch? It seems like everyone has pitched lately due to the crappy scheduling by MLB. We could really use another arm in the pen.

I've said it before and will say it again. We have to thank Patio/JerryStarke for Fredi moving Heyward to lead off.

I know Zito and everyone has been telling Fredi for weeks to put JHey in the leadoff spot, the problem was Fredi didn't know we all moved over here from Scout, and he finally checked his PM's last week and saw the invite from weso.

I'd be fine with Vavaro. If Kimbrel pitches tonight, he's out tomorrow against Washington. A 3 run lead shouldn't constitute using our best reliever a 3rd consecutive night

Given the division lead we have, I assume that Fredi will dial Kimbrel's workload back at some point.

And Fredi getting cute with the lefty/right matchup. Agree with Varvaro.. had no idea he was still in the pen.

It doesn't matter if he is out against Washington tomorrow. A win today is the same as beating them head to head. You can use Walden to close tomorrow.

It matters if you're forcing your best pitcher to pitch 6/7 days in games that can be handled by other pitchers.

3 run save potentially though. Might be a good time to use Varvaro because of that.

Before the last 2 days Kimbrel last pitched on the28th. You could just hold him back the next two days. You don't know if you are even going to need Kimbrel tomorrow. You use him when you can within the constraint of his regular pitch patterns.

Weeks I said J-Hey should be leadoff in ST before the team took the field. Unless you're saying the Fredi just joined up in May to scout.

I'm not saying we're going to need him tomorrow. I'm saying we don't need him tonight

Anyone else think we're seeing the Phillies crumbling (in big picture terms)? Or to put it another way, have they lived long enough as the hero to see themselves become the villain?

I'm not making guarantees or anything, but it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't competitive again for another decade.
