Report: Buzz around NBA is that D’Angelo Russell doesn’t want to play for Sixers http://dlvr.it/BHFTkz

I'm not buying this. First, he's the only guy to report anything like this. Second, why would he work out for us then? He could send a clear, obvious message by turning it down. And there are other reports that state he really likes the Sixers.

Russell was just on ESPN and shot down rumors he doesn't want to play for Sixers (shocking).
Also latest reports on Embiid state he is fine.

Who would want to?

The Emiid pick is going to blow up in their face and that will kill their rebuild. They are going to be awful for the next 8 years.

Not sure i'd go that far, but Hinkie has made some head-scratching moves.

I still have to think they take Russell at 3 assuming Towns/Okafor go 1-2 in whatever order. They need a guard, and Russell is a good one.

Regarding Embiid, no idea what to think there, but still thought it was fine to take him there.

Also, Embiid alone will not "kill their rebuild."
Paying Melo like a top player is a rebuild killer, though.

The Celtics offered Marcus Smart, picks 16 and 28 to the 76ers for Nerlens Noel and the 3rd overall pick. Philly declined. (LA Times)

yeah, no thanks.

Noel and Russell as your core is not winning anything in the NBA. Good luck with making the playoffs, even in the ****ty East, anytime soon.

good luck winning a playoff series with Melo.
And again: Embiid is fine (right now). It was always a high risk, high reward pick. Nothing has changed.

Also, since when do 76ers fans have the right to talk about winning with that garbage roster.

Especially with the rumors of Saric staying in Europe another season past next season.

They aren't competing for the next 5 years with no Emiid. Hinkie's plan is seriously going to blow up in his face unless he gets a miracle in Free Agency AND good luck getting someone really good to come play in Philly with that roster when every team is going to have money to spend.

I don't think Hinkie's plan was bad by any means and it could still work out. They still have a lot of assets to deal.

The problem is they selected high variance players. Embiid may or may not come back. Time will tell on that one, but the uncertainty of that coupled with Saric potentially being a couple years away really pushes their time table back. It was probably the best strategy to take, but you have to nail your draft picks to make it work.

I'm sure yeezus will disagree with LOL's and LMAO's, but I don't see anything other than a good Noel season that suggests differently.
