Farewell to Wood, Peraza, Jimmy Johns, and Avilans.

I like Jose Peraza for what he is, but you're getting way more impact in Hector Olivera's bat. Would be a strong upgrade for Atlanta.

Its possible that this is the case. Its also possible that Wood has another TJ surgery in the next 2 years and his caerer is over. I was all about trading Wood since the start of the season.

Hopefully Olivera can save the Braves from having a worse offense than last year

So according to Gurnick, we are getting 34th pick without having to take on Morse, who is owed $7m this year and $8m next year. That helps . . . a little.

Then we gave up Peraza too. And a closer/Set up man.

I would do Wood for Oliveira right now. Especially factoring in rebuilding team

Yes Olivera is a strong upgrade over Peraza offensively. But then you factor in defense and position. And then losing out on Wood entering his prime.

Wood has seen a pretty steady decline in his fastball velocity since he came up. His velocity chart is eerily similar to Hanson's before he fell apart.

That upgrade is not even close to being worth Alex Wood. That is the problem. Especially since we could have just paid $30 million to have Olivera without giving up a thing.

There better be more in the deal or else there is no defending it from the Braves' perspective.

Is it an upgrade?? Olivera is 30. We aren't competing this year or next. Why take a 30 year old as the headliner for Wood our top 21 year old prospect?

If we weren't trading Peraza, this deal wouldn't look terrible. With Peraza its a friggin joke. This reads like some dodger homer posting a dream trade.
