Serious question, how are the names of these players leaked? Who does any writer know what Hart & other GM's are talking about?
The problem with this trade is, it makes no ****ing sense. It flies in the face of everything Hart and company has done, why trade 2 of your best chips for a 31 year old that isn't proven??? It's not like we just trade these guys for Donaldson or Arenado or some proven MLB 3b.
It makes no ****ing sense
If the Braves made this deal with the believe that Olivera is an impact bat and Wood will be injurred in 2 years then how is not fair to look at it that way. Of course we don't know that is how they are thinking but I don't think you need some great leap to feel that way.
Olivera straight up for Wood isnt terrible value, giving up Luis, JJ and Peraza and not getting much else in return meh.
This rumored trade is so terrible from our side I don't know where to begin. This better be a damn joke.
I've never said this was a good deal. I'm just trying to understand the rationale from the Braves. You can't hide things anymore. I'm sure in the negotiations the Dodgers were talking about the big injury risk that is Alex Wood. Friedman is a smart man and does all his homework. His value is not a compilation of his MLB stats.
Yeah it kinda is. Olivera is 30. How many 30 year old hitters in the MLB right now would you trade Wood for right now?

I disagree that it makes no sense.. It makes sense for 2017, when Olivera could still be viewed as a huge asset for the braves at 3b and a middle of the order bat. Beyond 2017 is my concern. What are we really expecting there? I guess the good news is that he will be relatively inexpensive. But this also reeks of desperation. I don't think the Braves should be in desperation mode for 2017 yet. Is Olivera worth the Peraza asset? I am just struggling. The other players mentioned are meh.

Philly did well for Hamels.
Then you don't make the deal if your player is getting devalued because of a possible injury risk. And sometimes there is nothing to understand about a teams rationale. Sometimes the team just ****s up.
