Don't address the K% and K/9 plus much higher WHIP, I guess... those are huge deals to you with every other pitcher you try and cherry pick apart.

How do you know about the sinker? Either way his groundball % hasn't improved significantly if at all. I don't think you can just write off the concerns with Wood's velocity decline and k/9 decline.
Also funny how injury risk craters Olivera's value but doesn't apply to Wood's.
You are such an angry little man
There was an article on talking chop before the year that I have posted in this thread. He says he changed his mechancis to get his arm in better position to had a couple inches of sink. And you aren't talking about much velocity because his first year he was used in the bullpen. He's average 90 on the fastball now versus about 90.5 last year.
Notice the big change in movement for his sinker: http://www.brooksbaseball.net/velo....ype=2&startDate=03/30/2007&endDate=07/30/2015

I'm sad.
..What?
Hamels is a far better and more dependable pitcher right now. His IP matter a TON to a team, throughout the season AND in the playoffs. Wood is not on his level, at all. What are you using to say he is, besides xFIP and FIP?
Debatable, but no one can argue that Olivera should have necessitated his inclusion.
Friedman and the rest of baseball are laughing at the Johns right about now.
What's he going to say? "I legit lost some velocity and can't explain it?"
If you attempt to get more movement, you are going to lose velocity. Its basic 101. I guess since he's now an ex-Brave, he must be lying (and killing puppies)
Most numbers. ERA and FIP being the biggest 2. Those are far more important than K rate, since K rate is actually just part of the FIP formula.
I was for trading Wood. I would not have been for trading Wood had I known Olivera was the prize.
"Most" numbers? Pitching to an FIP of 3.30 in 220 IP is far more valuable than in 170 IP. They are not similar pitchers. Innings matter when talking about aces. Hamels is up there, Wood is not (yet). We cannot compare them. Hamels is a few steps above.
And pitching to an FIP of 3.30 in 6 ⅔ innings in a playoff game is pretty similar to a 3.30 FIP in 7 ⅔ innings in a playoff game. That's my only point.
I'm not arguing that part. Don't love the trade... still excited to see Olivera.
