Philly got a haul for Giles, smh.

The Phillies will receive Velasquez, Oberholtzer, Eshelman, Mark Appel, and Harold Arauz.

The Astros will also receive infielder Jonathan Arauz from the Phillies and Giles.

Makes you wonder what we could have got for Kimbrel straight up.
 
That's a good deal for the Phillies, but I don't think it's a fleecing. Velasquez is the primary piece, but he looks more like a RP. I just think Appel's going to be a big bust. It's obviously a lot of arms with a chance a couple of them develop into something really good.

I still like our Kimbrel deal. I like Wisler better than any single piece the Phillies got, and it gave us Riley. And possibly Touki. The BJ money, we'll just have to see what we can add next offseason.
 
I am so happy to see Appel go to the Phillies. Most overrated prospect since Luke Hochevar. Hopefully now I won't have to see any more trade projections with him in it to the Braves.

Phillies still fleeced the Astros imo. I bet Appel or Velasquez are good relievers and Oberholtzer and Eshelman should be good back end of the rotation guys.

If it was pre TJ Fernandez I might do that deal. They should have traded him and Stanton years ago before they got so much service time.

Six years, 130 million. Not much more, at all.

I think the Dbacks are on a great path right now, but I'd MUCH rather place for the Giants anyways. Heck, that park is perfect for Cueto.

21 million..wow.. he has an opt out after 2 years.. So he could be in that 2018 FA class.. LOL..
 
Reason 12323220 I hate the Olivera trade. I'd love for the Dodgers not to have Wood right now....they'd be extra desperate for pitching and maybe we could get a difference maker plus.
