The Don

Some of my favorite new Donald Quotes from the last few weeks:

"Thank you, thank you for the book!"
"You're losing so bad you don't know WHAT's going on!"
"First of all this guy is a choke artist, and this guy is a liar"
"Nasty guy!"
"Go Ahead"
"Don't get nervous"
"He's a nasty guy"

My favorite is "I love words. I have the best words"

When I saw him a couple weeks ago, he was talking about how fast word can spread on social media. Then he said, "Watch this. .....Jeb Bush is a stiff." Paused for 5 seconds then said now go look on the Internet.

Of course, Douthat barely mentions the racism in the equation, in both the opposition to Obama and the rise of Trump. It's easier to say that white working class voters are abandoning the Democratic Party because "Obama has made moves that effectively slam the door on them: His energy policies, his immigration gambits, his gun control push, his shift to offense on same-sex marriage and abortion," not that they're mostly just ****ing racists who are looking for an excuse so they don't have to just say they're racists (although Trump is allowing them to finally go, "Okay, fine, we're just ****ing racists.") -

I know it's difficult for you 57, but try reading something other than Rudepundit. Link

It's not difficult one bit.

But my guess is the people at Trump rallies selling TShirts "Bomb ISIS" and "Kill ... " the minority or religion du jour - could give a rats ass about the theories in the above article
This is Nixon's Southern Strategy of 1968, designed by Kevin Phillips played to it's inevitable conclusion.
Why even you referring to Chicago politics invoked the term "thug". Theguess from where I sit is that brought a smile to The Donald's face
Though I understand the writers point and agree with a number of his points, do you really think people come out to hear Trump wax poetic on trade deals and Chinese bargains?
No, they come (both senses of the word) for the red meat

My other guess is (R) is going to suffer the same fate as (D) post 1968. Looking back, they had a similar problem.
Let's pause for a second and remember the 2000 election and all of the what if's attached

Thanks for the read

I actually agree on this.

I do think there are people that criticize Obama as a conduit to express ignorant/bigoted thoughts in a non-ignorant/bigoted way. I also believe the same is true for H-Dog.

Sometimes things are hidden in plain sight

Like I said, people don;t flock to Trump rallies to hear him talk about trade deals or Chinese currency
....

part yes, but don't you think that is just another part of the same message
us vs them ?

It is always about people of color or their religion or their nationality

To boil it all down to racism is lazy. It's not that racism (or maybe better xenophobia) aren't a part of it. But why?
Depends on how sensitive you are to the term 'racism'. I think expressing disparaging comments or disagreeing with them due to skin color traits is racism. Arguing otherwise is being an apologist.

I agree with that. Racism is usually just the most convenient form of Us vs Them.

The crowd was cheering madly last Friday in Valdosta - because Trump was explaining the demise of the middle class ?

I agree with and understand the points B made. But, it is obvious as the nose on your face that the dog whistles / bullhorns are carrying the day.
....

Trump was not asked last night to disavow or explain his stances on the melting of middle class life. The pertinate question (outside of his //// ) was the KKK question.
The KKK being an issue in 2016 at a Presidential Debate --
Let me say that again,
The KKK is an issue in 2016 at a Presidential Debate

Those are people who have been convinced by Rush/Fox/etc. that blacks and liberals are their only problems. But at the heart of all bigotry is a fear there won't be enough of the pie to go around, more simply put, an unwillingness to share "the good life". Racism is believing blacks don't deserve the milk and honey of freedom. Many surely think this way, but I feel that idea sprouts straight from their own economic insecurity. I guess I'm saying racism comes from the fear of being the victims of racism.

I would argue cultural and inherited threatened racial entitlement weigh heavier

Do you think the twisted attachment to the stars and bars is over the dwindling middle class? .
