14 players moved on Saturday

Braves release Kendrick and Volstad

Option Burawa, Jenkins, C. Kelly, Castro(!) to Gwinnett

Option Cabrera to Miss.

Reassigned to minors camp (team TBA):

Ellis, Younginer, Holmberg, Newcomb, Ruiz, Freiman, d'Arnaud

Why move Freiman when Freeman's wrist is sore.

Edit: just saw his quote that he doesn't think it was his wrist.

Saw Kendrick pitch yesterday. Awful. Jj wasn't very good either. Toscano is real to. Sharp base hit in the first. Short stocky dude. Also. First time seeing Howard in person. Big dude. Had himself a good game too. One last thing. Brisket at champion stadium is the ****ing bomb. Very good.

Kendrick release means Banuelos or Baby Harang is in line for a spot in the rotation.

Or both. Today notwithstanding, I want to see Banuelos in the rotation with a healthy arm and no pain.

Early on though, it's looking like Jhoulys Chacin will be one of them along with Julio, Bud and Wisler.

Gotta kick the tires on Banuelos. I think he should be in the ML rotation unless he really stinks it up this spring.

Yeah, I'm hoping for Teheran, Norris, Wisler, Chacin, Banuelos. Nothing against Bill Perez, but I think keeping Chacin is a better play from a depth perspective (assuming he has an opt out).

The bullpen picture is still pretty crowded. I think Grilli should be / will be DL'd to start the season. Also, I think they'll be able to DL Banuelos retroactively for the last week or so of ST so that they can carry 8 RPs until he needs to make his first start on 4/12. If so, here's how it looks to me . . .

Locks if healthy
Vizcaino, Johnson, Withrow, Ramirez

8 guys competing for 4 remaining spots
Winkler, Rutckyj, Ogando, Torres (big cap), Torres (reg cap), Krol, Marksberry, Weber

What the heck is he talking about? He has never gave Rutckyj any chance at all. Why waste a pick on him and not give him a shot? Bowman is an idiot, I just hope the Braves are not as stupid. Plus Krol hasn't been good and Marksberry got lit up today. Also, listing Torres among the lefty candidates is deceiving giving his history of reverse splits (very good vs righties and poor vs lefties). If you keep him you should be doing so for what he does vs righties or you're ignoring his reverse splits.

This is the first report I've seen on Chacin's salary if he makes the team. Very nice.

Chacin's bid for a spot in Atlanta's rotation is strengthened by the fact that he is guaranteed just $950,000 if he is placed on the Major League roster. If he were to pitch well during the regular season, he will serve as an asset that could help the Braves remain competitive. If he were to struggle, the Braves would take a small financial hit and then have the chance to possibly fill the rotation spot with Aaron Blair or Tyrell Jenkins, two right-handed prospects who both could be deemed Major League-ready within the next couple months.

Both will be very solid this year I think. Chacin a very underrated move

I've liked Chacin for years, if his shoulder issues that effected his velocity are behind him he could prove very solid again. He has a good mix of pitches and good feel for pitching IMO.
