MOVES

Gwinnett activated Wooten, Texeira from 7-day DL

Mississippi activate Toscano, Mateo from DL, return Belicek to Rome, place Sean Godfrey on DL. Godfrey had been promoted to AA when Lien went on DL. Went 0-for-4 with 4 Ks in last game. Only game in Carolina saw him go 2-4 with HR, 2 RBI on Opening Day.

Miss. might finally break that dumb luck loosing streak.. Ozzie/Toscano/Davidson in on a little 3 run rally.. now up 4 - 0 with Whalen pitching 4 strong innings thus far..

Our starters this year have been impressive.

our Minor league teams have just been incredible tonight. Miss. and Gwinnett have exploded to big leads.. Astudillo with another hit and 2 Rbis.. hitting over .300 ... Rio is on the board with a hit..

our pitching has only given up 2 runs across all leagues.. and that was a 1st inning homer from Rodgers off Sanchez.. zeroes the rest of the way... that is amazing

Rome is still jinxed.. Acuna with an rbi single in the top of the 10th to take a 3-2 lead.. then Moralse lines out and Riley called out on strikes.. but Dalton can't hold the lead.. tied at 3 again..

Morales still hitting for Rome, 2-4 so far, run scored, double and RBI. He's now hitting .419 on the year.

If he keeps this up, I wonder if they'd promote him early this season. Give Herbert a chance to catch every day in Rome, and there's no real catching prospect in Carolina for Morales to compete with. Plus Morales is already 21.

Dustin Pety with a blast to extend Miss. lead to 7 -2... Whalen got into a little trouble in the 6th.. single double.. then locked it down with ground outs and basically conceded the runs..

Right on key.. Acuna bunts Keller to 2B.. Moralse singles and gets him to 3rd.. luckily Keller scores on pass ball, because Riley pops out to SS.. now lets see if Rome can hold this one.. Acuna and Moralse are beast for Rome..

Rome holds on for the W..

Miss only team left to make it a perfect night for the Braves. Whalen finished for the evening.. 6ip 4h 2er 5k

Ho Hum.. another solid start by a Braves starter..

Very impressed with the minors so far. Our pitchers especially. Albies and Riley will pick it up so I'm not worried about them.

Great night for Dustin Peterson and Willians Astudillo for Mississippi, combining for 6 hits, 1 HR (Dustin), and 5 RBI's (3 by Dustin). Astudillo is now hitting .333, another batting title this year? Also, how many games for his first K (contact machine man)?

Morales converted to full-time catching his sophomore year at Miami-Dade, so he may need to pick up on the finer points of the position. If he shows he can handle his defensive duties, I wouldn't be surprised to see him promoted, but it's my guess they will want to be very certain he has his catching fundamentals down before they do so.

Big night up and down the dial. Povse keeps it up and he'll be in Mississippi in a couple of clicks.

I get that, but I wonder if a promotion to Carolina wouldn't be better for that, too. He could start most of the games behind the plate and be able to get better accustomed to the position by playing every day. And it certainly looks like the bat could handle it.
