The way the front office hates offense concerns me. If Lewis is there and they don't pick him and choose a high school pitcher who won't be ready for a minimum of 4 years I will begin to show emotion again. Negative emotion.

Groome seems like he'll be ready within 2 years.

But if Lewis is there, would be hard to pass him up. Minus Albies/Swanson, isnt a ton of hitting in the farm.

Its a bad idea to draft for need; just take the best playing in the eyes of the scouts. If thats Groome - you take Groome; if thats Lewis you take Lewis.

Target offense in trades and FA; but when drafting just take the best player and sort it out later.

The FA class next year for hitting is a joke.

Last time we traded pitching for hitting it didnt work out very well, so.

We can have all the pitching we want, but when you can't score runs what's the point.

You can never have enough pitching. If the pitcher and hitter are rated equal, I take the pitcher.

If you reach for players who you don't think are as good because they fit a 'need' you probably aren't going to score a lot of runs in the long-term anyway.

Baseball is all about the accumulation of assets, get the best players and figure it out later -- if you end up drafting an ace in Groome, you aren't going to need to score as many runs.

And they don't profile as middle of the order hitters either. Not that there is anything wrong with that for them but the farm is absent of that impact bat. If someone like that is available at #3 the Braves need to go after it.

Even still, give me the hitter, have enough pitching.

How many pitchers do we have that profile as a TOR; people are acting like a potential 'ace' isn't a need in this system. A pitcher like that is a need in EVERY system.

Again, I'm just advocating to take the best guy, if thats Ray or Lewis -- grab him. But if the best guy on your board is Pint/Groome -- don't reach, we don't pick top 3 very often, you have to grab the best players when you do.

We dont have a middle of an order bat, minus Freeman and i doubt we'll be in bidding wars for big names.

Regarding aces.

Allard could be one, and who knows who else.

If there's a MOR (middle of order) bat there vs an ace, give me the bat.

Also pitchers have a higher bust rate than hitters FYI.

Which I can easily turn around and say; thats why you need more pitchers.

But I'm not arguing for a pitcher, I'm arguing against drafting for need. If the scouts/FO think Groome is the best player - thats who we should take. Conversely if they think BPA is Lewis, grab him.

There's no sure fire bat in this draft.
