Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

It's interesting. Something happened to player development after 2011. Teheran went off the rails in AAA in 2012. There was talk that Frank and Jeff Wren had him make some mechanical changes to see if they could get more swing and miss, and they almost screwed Teheran up big time. I know that Kurt Kemp stepped down in 2011, and he was one of the guys that did not see eye to eye with Frank on things.

I've never seen where the Wren's were behind the mechanical adjustments. Where did you see that?

Imagine prying Moncada with Teheran+, trading Jenkins, Sims (Maybe someone like Touki even), and someone like Davidson/Peterson to get Wil Myers and picking up Ramos in FA.

Inciarte CF

Wil Myers LF

Moncada 3B

Freeman 1B

Swanson SS

Ramos C

Benintendi RF

Pitcher

Albies 2B

I'm a fan of that lineup!

I cannot stress the ejaculation factor enough... although because of health I think I'd rather have Gallo than Myers but Myers is prob the better talent. Too bad there's no room for Profar. Ejaculation....

it's a hell of lineup, that's for sure. It may take a little development for pitching, but THAT lineup keeps up in so many games.

Holy 180 Batman! The Braves are almost admitting that they cost Teheran a year of development because they were tinkering with his delivery. The quote from Wren above tells me that the Braves asked Teheran to abandon the changes they made to his delivery, described in the first quote from Baseball America. I guess their intentions were right, but the results not what they had hoped for, and I suppose we have to give them credit for returning Teheran to his original delivery, from which he had the bulk of his minor league success.

I don't make up stuff to push an agenda.

It's interesting that they also changed something with Tommy Hanson around that time, and that's when Hanson's production took a drastic decline.

Jason Stark also said that no one would meet what the Braves wanted for Shelby Miller, and 12 hours later, he was traded for Swanson, Blair, and Inciarte.

If the Sox don't come to us on our price tag, JT stays. It's as simple as that. That's the beautiful thing about an asset like Teheran. We don't NEED to move him, so we don't have to expect fair value in return. It's not about value. It's about price.

Nowhere in that article or quotes does it say the Wrens did anything. The GM spoke in a "we" which all leaders do so as to ensure no one person is a scapegoat. For all we know it was his pitching coach who suggested it and then passed the word upstairs.

You have had a notorious hatred of all things Wren even ignoring the part abut the draft where JS forced Wren's hand on signing by forbidding him to go over slot.

And you're notorious for arguing about things that mean absolutely noting lately

Yeah. It's just a coincidence that the "changes" happened around the same time Frank ran off a strong director of player development and gave the title to his hand picked guy Bruce Manno.

The Sox must be serious about trying to make a serious big time offer if they sent Wren in person to watch.... it may be one of those bargaining things that goes to the deadline, but they need help NOW. Also probably doesn't hurt that I think both guys were brought in under Wren's reign? Or am I wrong about that? (With Viz, I'm talking the original Yankees trade)

JT was signed before Wren took over if I'm not mistaken.

I forgot when Wren took over, but I think Julio was definitely before then. He was signed in 2007 (helped by his cousin and Johnny Almaraz who had a huge hand in international scouting).

I never said Wren had a great personality, but this has nothing to do with 'scouting directors" or any other thing, this was a direct attempt, by you, to throw another log on the FW fire. This was obviously a coaching decision. But, you'd prefer to make it about your favorite target... wtvr dude. if you don't want to see my posts, ignore me.

Wren took over at the end of the 07 season, IIRC. But I'm sure he's still well versed on Julio's talents regardless.

Boston might also have interest in Norris after today, not just what Norris did today but also that Buchholz did very poorly again. This might be setting up the perfect storm to get a real good return for Norris because Boston, Miami and Texas among others are looking for both rotation and bullpen help (and Norris has did well of late in both roles). Plus the return should be higher when you have multiple teams that are pretty desperate for help given the thin market for pitching.

I worked in the home clubhouse in Gwinnett right before and after Bruce manno got involved. To be honest the clubhouse atmosphere was awful after manno got involved. Not saying I know what the plan was per player and wouldn't say so if I did, but you could see things like taking away the ping pong tables, players only being able to watch baseball related shows on the clubhouse tv screens. In 2009 they had a good team that stayed loose. In 2010/2011 that went down hill fast

I check every day now to see how the BOS pitchers do.... They've been struggling mightily lately, even Price got shelled.

Goes without saying the more their pitchers stall out the better JT has to look.
